I love the smell of books as well, I think it's better than new car smell or even cooking food (most times)! There is also something undeniably wonderful about holding a physical book, I avoid digital copies as much as I can in this day and age. Holding a book brings me more into the story for sure!
I'm glad to hear you're getting yourself these gifts for your birthday, it's nice to treat yourself too. The ones you picked sound fascinating; I actually did not know that women had a significant role in code breaking during WW2! Although I suppose it's meant to be, as many of us are natural detectives haha!
It seems we share similar interests when it comes to books. I love holding physical books, especially when they're new.
However, I must admit that sometimes I prefer old physical books - you know, the ones with worn, yellowed pages and beautifully weathered covers, their edges slightly frayed.
I also didn't know that women played a significant role in the World Wars until I watched the movie. Haha. I agree with you that you guys are natural detectives.
