I love reading fantasy books. Books about warriors, adventures, battles, heroism, villains, magic, sorcery and all those stuff, I love them. The first book series that satiated this thirst was A Song Of Ice And Fire by George R.R Martins. It satiated my thirst but still made me hunger for books like that. Recently, I got fascinated with the Vikings/Norse inspired theme. I just started the TV series, The Last Kingdom after watching a bit of Vikings and I wanted to read a book like it. This time around, I was going to imagine the scenes myself and play out the realities in my mind. So, The Shadow of The Gods came my way by personal recommendation. I wasn't skeptical about it at all. The cover of the book alone drew me in and the book wasn't disappointing at all.

When I picked up this book, the first thing I thought to myself was, “Truly, Tess, you do love torturing yourself.” The title alone was a dead giveaway that I was in for a world of pain and I needed none of that. Lol, not like anyone needs pain at any point. The first story broke me so bad, I suspended the entire book for two weeks. What I didn’t expect was for the same book that broke me to be the one that healed me, in a realistic bitter-sweet way. Presenting to you, my lovely readers,

Olive had known she didn't like Ethan, the brother of her sister's fiancé, since they first met. Olive is forced to make the difficult decision to either pretend to be her twin sister and go on the all-expenses-paid honeymoon to Hawaii with Ethan or to let her fiercest competitor enjoy the dream trip alone after everyone else at her sister's wedding, save for her and Ethan, becomes ill with food poisoning. Olive unwillingly agrees to the proposal because she doesn't want to miss out on such an amazing opportunity.

Friends to lovers? Definitely my favorite romance trope.
Fake dating, uncomfortable friend zoning, I was absolutely sold."The Cheat Sheet" is your typical friends to lovers romance novel with just the right bit of humor.
From the writing, to the banter, to the fake dating and the eventual climax, this book was almost perfection.

"He is a father." But what encompasses a father to be properly addressed as a father is different than being an actual father which would naturally be a good one. So, I say that there is no bad father. But rather, someone who took part in procreation to initiate the process of pregnancy of his partner and when the child finally knew of sunlight, the supposed father begun to be an irresponsible individual, undeserving of the responsibility of fatherhood.

I recently shared my collection of Cuban books with you, but now I'm going to show you my small collection of classic books. Although they have never been my passion and I usually enjoy discovering books by smaller authors, the truth is that the reason why certain books are considered classics is ineffable: they are excellent.
What is Hive Book Club?
Hive Book Club is a community made by book lovers, for book lovers. A place where the chaotic minds of writers may punch away words from their keyboards as they share their writing adventures. Where passionate book collectors may rummage through their stacks of books to share and review their latest additions. Outside of our regular curation process, we may create contests for our community to participate in, and earn even more from their posts. If you have a certain theme for a future contest you would like to see, let us know! Be sure to check with us frequently on our various social media platforms to avoid missing out!
How Do We Choose The Highlighted Posts?
For those of you curious as to how you may have been chosen or would like to be chosen in the future in one of these compilations: we scan through the community and read the many posts that the community members write. We then select four or five posts that we believe meet certain criteria and are worthy of sharing with the rest of the community. We aim to keep these selections diverse in style, from writing skills or subject matter.
Hence, throughout the week, the moderators will check the community and manually handpick the posts. Some factors include the post subject, post quality, engagement, personal voice, and general effort. If we choose you, or you happen to stumble across these highlights, please do check out the other posts we feature, and contribute to their curation and engagement!
