Announcement

Hey everyone, since this is still the start of the year and we still have the spirit to change our lives and our surroundings, why not explore a philosophical book?

If you were to recommend a philosophical book that would help us today and is great to be applied to contemporary issues, what would it be?

Last week I gave you a fairly short review of a middle book linked in the saga I'm reading, which is Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. On that occasion I get to read book number three, which would in theory be number two in the saga, and this one is called set me free. This book continues after the events of the end of the first book, where our protagonists end up allied with the rebellion. And it also connects to the end of book 1.5, where remember Aaron Warner was hallucinating that he was seeing Juliette, but the part where it connects to this book from Juliette's perspective, which would be less than halfway through the book where this happens and all at once I preface that I needed this moment to come because Juliette's perspective without Warner was boring me quite a bit.

While searching for something new to start yet again under the assumption that all of the recent things I had started reading were between volumes, I stumbled across Absolute Batman's fourth volume. I was certain that it came out about a week ago, and began to question whether I had actually read that one or not. It's a bit hard to keep track these days! The only real way for me to tell was to go into my own Hive posts and have a look at the last volume I wrote about.

There is this joy that comes with discovering books for yourself and they end up becoming very good books. It feels like a reward for all the non-good books I read earlier. One book that made me feel this way was Red Queen. This is one of those books I was drawn to by its title. I remember coming across it one day in my library and when I decided to peek through, it was un-put-down-able. Dear Reader, this book I'm about to review is Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard.

The first thing that struck me that I really didn't remember, is that Bella is as obsessed with Edward as he is with her, her love is reciprocated from day one and it is for the same reason that she accepts his nature so normally, she doesn't care that he is a predator, that he is 100 years older or that being with him means some dangers. The other thing I didn't remember is that the novel is good, naturally of the juvenile genre, but the narrative grabs you from page one because of how everything is written and described by the author and the construction of the characters, each one with their own complexities and motives despite being teenagers, in fact I think that is something that portrays very well, supported by Edward's ability to read minds, because we know that if he is a teenager, he will be able to read your mind, but he will be able to read your mind, because we know what the characters feel and why they act in certain ways. I also find it quite intelligent how the series gives us the possibility of a saga with the different conflicts that arise in it, the interactions with Jacob, Victoria's hatred for losing James and knowing if Bella will be a vampire someday.

To the Lighthouse” is one of those books that seem gray and boring, but just by reading it, you start a mental odyssey that goes beyond the limits of simple thoughts. Even when you get into a relationship with a person and start a family, problems and inequities continue to exist. It is complex to decipher some behaviors, but to know how to shape, understand and appease them.

I had some apprehension about reading this self-conclusive book by Ali Hazelwood. I've read several of her books before, and I always played it safe. Her protagonists were always scientists in academia who ended up falling in love with their work rival. But when I saw this book, which I knew was a departure from the romantic comedy genre, I was very leery that she wouldn't pull it off.

In this particular century we are entertainment and social media has som much eaten deep into most of the young minds that reading of books have been neglected. I'm myself in particular can't boast of the last time I picked up a book to read and then I finished it. My colleague teased me saying that the medical books I have been reading for school and exams is not a waste afterall.😅

In this post, i want to share a review about my current favorite book. Ever since i know that i got pregnant, i’ve been looking for parenting books to read. I do read a lot of books even till now. Who would have thoughts that becaming a parent makes you study harder than school? Not me. Well, i want to share some of the books that really catch my attention. Personally, out of all the parenting related books i have ever read, this one is my most favorite, its also the one i read again and again. The name of this book is “The World Called Children”. This book is written by a reading institute teacher, Kim Soyoung. Since its originally written in Korean Language, i can only find the Indonesian Language translation of this book. I have tried to find the english translation of this book but i cant seem to find it.

I know that my book reviews consist mostly of the fantasy genre, sometimes romantic comedies. But you may not know that one of my favorite writers is Dan Brown, author of very famous books like The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. That kind of literature always gets me, the adventure of following clues and discovering riddles, especially the direct criticism of humanity and its history. For that reason I did extensive research to find books similar to Dan Brown's stories, and his well-known protagonist, Robert Langdon. That is how I found this saga.

What's up community? I hope you are very well, it's my first time posting here so I hope to do it well and not break any rules 😅. Surely many recognize this title, as it is part (if my memory serves me correctly) of the best-selling book saga of all time, this being the first installment, which, truth be told, I can say that I was very entertained.

What is Hive Book Club?

Hive Book Club is a community made by book lovers, for book lovers. A place where the chaotic minds of writers may punch away words from their keyboards as they share their writing adventures. Where passionate book collectors may rummage through their stacks of books to share and review their latest additions. Outside of our regular curation process, we may create contests for our community to participate in, and earn even more from their posts. If you have a certain theme for a future contest you would like to see, let us know! Be sure to check with us frequently on our various social media platforms to avoid missing out!

How Do We Choose The Highlighted Posts?

For those of you curious as to how you may have been chosen or would like to be chosen in the future in one of these compilations: we scan through the community and read the many posts that the community members write. We then select four or five posts that we believe meet certain criteria and are worthy of sharing with the rest of the community. We aim to keep these selections diverse in style, from writing skills or subject matter.

Hence, throughout the week, the moderators will check the community and manually handpick the posts. Some factors include the post subject, post quality, engagement, personal voice, and general effort. If we choose you, or you happen to stumble across these highlights, please do check out the other posts we feature, and contribute to their curation and engagement!

Thank you very much for this recognition. I really appreciate

always happy to have you in our community

Hello, @hivebookclub and book lovers.

Second Monday of 2025, and lots of great posts. Congratulations to the featured authors. Regarding today's prompt; Wow! I have a lot of doubts, after reading a lot about psychology and sociology. In that regard, I have a book in mind, of which many recommend it: “Think Fast, Think Slow” by Daniel Kahneman.

I think that all substantial change begins with oneself. The wise Socrates well advised: Know thyself; inscribed on the portico of the temple of Apollo at Delphi. So, any writing that goes in this direction, leads us to face circumstances where decision-making is important.

Honestly, I don't remember reading the book I proposed. I think it would be interesting, soon, to write a review of it, or read one of yours.

Now, if I were to be strict in the philosophical category of the book, I would certainly recommend: Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle. Despite its more than 2300 years old, it is still relevant. And complement the reading with The Four Books of Confucius (more than 2500 years old). The synergy between West and East.

Greetings.

Thank you guys!

I think, everyone should read "Thus Spoke Zarathustra"

Definitely, that one is a great book!

Thanks a lot for the mention!!

You're welcome!

Will a book based on the theories and creation of engineering serve as a philosophical book?😅
And congratulations to everyone who got highlighted🫶✨

Honestly, anything sorry we just got back to you but we'd love to see you in our next prompt hehe
