THE RULES OF LOVE - BOOK REVIEW

Love is one of the most written and used words in history (I don’t have to do a fact check on that, do I?). As you can see, I just said that without even confirming how true it is, it was just a wide estimation. I said so because a lot of persons are still in doubt if truly that word “love” exists that they had to even make it be either true love, fake love or just love, lol. Having this in mind, I was not really surprised when I saw a book written about love and it just piqued my interest. THE RULES OF LOVE by Richard Templar.

I don’t know much about this writer because this would be my first book I’m reading from him and I also remember there was one time I read a book review on his book here from someone too. I have just two self help books in my room, but they are not even mine. They belong to my roommate but since she already read them, I thought about giving reading books a try recently so I wanted to start with what I know someone has read and is willing to keep for a long time. As you can see from the picture of the book, it is quite old. Some of the pages are already pulling off.

As the name implies, THE RULES OF LOVE talks about different rules that the author thinks apply to how we should love and be loved. Both as a partner, friend, family, colleague and as a human being generally. I learnt some really valuable things from it. Some of the things were what things I was just affirming to as I read them because I have also come to understand those things about love, while others, I either learn about them at that moment of reading or I don’t completely agree with it. But over all, it was worth reading.

Love is not something that is easy to talk about but Richard did that in over 200 pages. I’m very sure there will be so many other books on love and I would love to read about the minds of those writers and know what they think of love. Richard did his best to not beat so much around the bush and just hit the nail on the head with every single rule he gave. For most of the rules that I read, he tried to use personal experiences and not just what he thinks. All together, the rules were a hundred in number and he divided these rules into 6 sections for those who just want to focus on the part that concerns them.

I’m still not done with all the rules but I have read the first 50 rules. I have some of the rules that I find myself lacking and I have been trying my best to get them right and see how well those rules apply to me and my relationship with others especially to my loved ones. One of my favorite in the first section has to be CHOOSE SOMEONE THAT MAKES YOU LAUGH. This is one of the rules that I can boldly say, tested and trusted for. I mean, why should you still be with someone that can’t or hardly ever makes you laugh? This rule is on the section of those who are in search of love. I guess that is why someone once said that it is good to marry your friend.

So, if you are interested in learning about these rules, I’ll recommend this book to you and I’m sure you will find some valuable information to help you love and be loved.

Thanks for reading through. ❤️

When it comes to love there is no definite way to describe it because it depends on how one feels. I enjoy reading and learning more about alot of things and I think this recommendation you made about the book 'THE RULES OF LOVE' BY Richard Templar is worth a try

That’s right. Feel free to check it out.
Thank you for your comment. ❤️

This is an awesome write up about the complexities of love and the search for understanding it. The author's point about the prevalence of the word "love" and the resulting ambiguity is well-taken. I'm intrigued by the book recommendation... "The Rules of Love" sounds like a worthwhile read for anyone interested in exploring the subject further.

Yeah, it is a worthy recommendation and if you can, check it out and let me know what you think. 🤗

Amazing review
I love the rule that says, you can't change people. Not only does it highlight a big problem, but it also deals with both parties at once. You shouldn't enter a relationship with the intent to change anyone.

I would love to read this book. Do you know if it has an online version?

Yes! That was my second best. You can’t change anyone, well, unless they want to change.

I just did a research and I found it online. Just click on this link to read it The Rules Of Love.🥰

Thank you so much for reading through, Zita. 🥰

Interesting book! It reminds me of different love languages.

I’m glad it reminds you of that. 😌

I'd never heard of it before, but the title is striking. I've always thought love is a super-complex topic to have "rules" about it, but I'm intrigued to know what the author is proposing! I think it's cool that you found it this way, and that you're giving those books a chance even though they're a bit dated (sometimes those are the best!). Great review, cheers.

I totally agree with you. Those books most times hit differently.

The word love is yet to acquire new approaches and new paths.

It doesn’t really need a new path. I’ll say the right path. 🥰

In literature, love is a topic that has been explored since the Old English period, and even before that. Writers like Edmund Spenser and William Shakespeare have primarily written about love, and this trend continues to the present day. 'The rules of love' sounds intriguing.

I agree with Richard that you should be with someone who makes you laugh. Life is too short and difficult to do otherwise.

Thanks for sharing, PA.

You’re totally right, love. The word Love will always be one topic writers will want to keep exploring.

It’s my pleasure sharing with you! Thanks for your beautiful input, love. ❤️

I was curious about the title and after reading your review and seeing some of the rules in your images I wonder if more than rules it might be a reminder? hehehe I'm here philosophizing.

Yeah, I think they can be seen as reminders to those who already know and accept these things, hehe.
