Tuesdays with Morrie | Book Review

Why is it so hard to think about dying?

"Because," Morrie continued, "most of us walk around as if we're sleepwalking. We really don't experience the world fully, because we're half-asleep, doing things we automatically think we have to do."

And facing death changes all that?
"Oh yes. You strip away all that stuff and you focus on the essentials. When you realize you are going to die, you see everything much differently."

This book hits close to home! Although I can't resonate with everything Morrie said yet because of age difference- he's an accomplished dying old man while I'm just a 26 year old gal trying to create something out of myself. When the world tells you to thrive more, work more, or be more, this book will tell you to slow down, appreciate life, connect with love ones, be compassionate, and love one another. It's a kind of book that I'll pick up to remind me of things that truly matter just incase I'll forget.

There was once in my life that I was so afraid of aging, most especially in my physical attributes like skin. So I try to eat very healthy foods and took care of myself. Morrie thinks about aging not just as a decay of the body but also growth spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. As we grow old, we have now encountered many situations in life and we now have a better understanding of life. So it's not such a bad thing to grow old, after all. Maybe it's a matter of perspective and what impact you've done all those years.

Mitch Albom's writing always gives me bittersweet feeling in every ending of his book. I've already read The Five People You Meet In Heaven, from the same author, and I love it too.

That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!

Sending some love and light

With love,

I love this book too!

Hello there! I haven't read many books that explore the theme of death. Unlike Morrie, I don’t think about death. Why? Is it because I'm still young?

I don’t think I have ever been scared of aging. Am I weird?😂 Peter Lenrie’s “Panic of Growing Older” explores this theme.

Thanks for sharing.
