Hello friends reading fans, I hope you are all very well today.. this time I want to share with you all a new review, I want to talk about a very interesting novel that was on my radar for a long time, but until recently I was able to read it. It's the novel: The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter, and let me tell you it's quite a whirlwind, from the beginning I was hooked by the dark and brooding atmosphere of The Lords of the Underworld, and the way Greek mythology is permeated throughout the story... I mean, we are looking at a story where Zeus has created elite warriors, and these cursed warriors carry demons inside... it's like the Greek myths have a modern twist and a much sexier one, haha.
The author's writing style is fluid and very immersive, the narrative has a pace that makes it easy to lose track of time, I loved how she goes straight into the supernatural world without overloading the readers with too much information all at once.. the pacing seemed solid to me, although I must admit that there were moments where the story slowed down a bit, especially during the inner monologues.. but hey, talking a bit more about the characters, the chemistry between Maddox and Ashlyn is amazing. Maddox is the bringer of violence, the definition of a supremely tormented hero, cursed to die every night only to be resurrected the next morning.. his life is hell, literally, and then there is Ashlyn, and I have to say their connection is intense, she has been tormented by the voices of her past all her life, and being around Maddox somehow calms them down a bit. This mix of paranormal elements and romance surprisingly works well.. their bond feels inevitable and electric, like they're two broken pieces that are meant to fit together, and yes, the passion between them is off the charts.. it's really passionate, without being over the top, which is something I really appreciate.
Hola amigos fanáticos de la lectura, espero que hoy se encuentren todos muy bien.. en esta ocasión quiero compartir con todos ustedes una nueva reseña, quiero hablarles de una novela bastante interesante que estuvo en mi radar por mucho tiempo, pero hasta hace poco pude leerla. Es la novela: The Darkest Night de Gena Showalter, y déjenme decirles que es todo un torbellino, desde el principio me enganchó la atmósfera oscura y melancólica de Los Señores del Inframundo, y la forma en la que la mitología griega está impregnada en toda la historia.. o sea, estamos viendo una historia donde Zeus ha creado guerreros de élite, y estos guerreros malditos llevan demonios dentro.. es como si los mitos griegos tuvieran un giro moderno y mucho más sexy, jaja.
El estilo de escritura de la autora es fluido y muy inmersivo, la narrativa tiene un ritmo que hace que sea fácil de perder la noción del tiempo, me encantó cómo se adentra directamente en el mundo sobrenatural sin sobrecargar a los lectores con demasiada información de golpe.. el ritmo me pareció sólido, aunque debo admitir que hubo momentos en los que la historia se ralentizó un poco, especialmente durante los monólogos internos.. pero bueno, hablando un poco más de los personajes, la química entre Maddox y Ashlyn es increíble. Maddox es el portador de la violencia, la definición de un héroe sumamente atormentado, maldito a morir cada noche solo para resucitar a la mañana siguiente.. su vida es un infierno, literalmente, y luego está Ashlyn, y tengo que decir que su conexión es intensa, ella ha sido atormentada por las voces de su pasado toda su vida, y estar cerca de Maddox de alguna manera las calma un poco. Esta mezcla de elementos paranormales y romance sorprendentemente funciona bien.. su vínculo se siente inevitable y eléctrico, como si fueran dos piezas rotas que están destinadas a encajar, y sí, la pasión entre ellos está fuera de serie.. es realmente apasionado, sin ser exagerado, lo cual es algo que agradezco mucho.
One of the highlights of this story are the lords themselves, each warrior has a unique personality and their own demon to deal with... they're not just carbon copies of the “Bad Guy” archetype for example, Lucien, the bringer of death, has a calm and almost melancholy vibe, while Reyes, who contains the demon of pain, has an undercurrent that is both heartbreaking and intriguing. . ah, and the tattoos seemed to me a unique and representative detail, each Señor has a unique tattoo, in a certain location and of a certain color.. which makes them feel like a cool team with a tragic touch, that connection of marks somehow I like because I feel it connects them somehow.. it makes them feel like a real team, I really wanted to know the story of each of them.
As for the themes that this story tackles, it tells us about the power of redemption, love and fighting our own inner demons...these are themes that I felt were handled appropriately without sounding too cheesy. Maddox's struggle with The Violence is not just a device to show us action or powers, on the contrary it is a real internal and constant battle that adds a lot of depth to his character, Ashlyn's journey is equally compelling.. she is not just a damsel in distress, she is a determined and brave girl even when faced with supernatural chaos.. together they are a very interesting force to be reckoned with.
Uno de los aspectos más destacados de esta historia son los propios señores, cada guerrero tiene una personalidad única y su propio demonio con el que lidiar.. no son solo copias calcadas del arquetipo de "Chico Malo" por ejemplo, Lucien, el portador de la muerte, tiene una vibra calmada y casi melancólica, mientras que Reyes, que contiene el demonio del dolor, tiene un trasfondo que es tanto desgarrador como intrigante.. ah, y los tatuajes me parecieron un detalle único y representativo, cada Señor tiene un tatuaje único, en cierta ubicación y de cierto color.. lo que lo hace sentir como un equipo genial con un toque trágico, esa conexión de marcas de alguna manera me gusta porque siento que los conecta de alguna manera.. los hace sentir como un verdadero equipo, la verdad quise conocer la historia de cada uno de ellos.
En cuanto a los temas que aborda esta historia, nos habla del poder de la redención, el amor y la lucha contra nuestros propios demonios internos.. son temas que me parecieron que se manejaron adecuadamente sin sonar demasiado cursis. La lucha de Maddox con La Violencia no es solo un recurso para mostrarnos acción o poderes, sino que al contrario es una verdadera batalla interna y constante que añade mucha profundidad a su personaje, el viaje de Ashlyn es igualmente convincente.. ella no es solo una damisela en apuros, es una chica decidida y valiente incluso cuando se enfrenta al caos sobrenatural.. juntos son una fuerza muy interesante a tener en cuenta.
While I enjoyed the book very much, there were some areas that could have been stronger...the Hunters, who are basically the enemies of The Lords, felt underdeveloped, their motivations were clear, yes, but I wanted more complexity on their part, with much more depth to their motivations and their goals...also, while the romance was gripping, it overshadowed the main theme at times, I hope the next books delve more into the overall conflict, because the lore here is too good to take a back seat. If you are fans of paranormal romance with a touch of Greek meteorology, this book is for you...I consider it a perfect read for those who love brooding and complex heroes, you will surely find several literary crushes in this story, fans of series like Immortals behind the Darkness will feel right at home here.
And if you like stories where romance and action blend perfectly, you will most likely devour this story just as fast as I did, I give this novel a 4/5 star rating, the combination of mythology, romance, passion seemed very good to me, they also have some characters that become unforgettable. Sure, there are some details that can be improved, but they are easy to overlook when you are presented with a story that is really captivating... I am a fan of fantasy and mythology, I consider it to have the best of both worlds... if you haven't given it a chance, I recommend you to get into this great story... and well, I'll see you in the next reviews. Aunque disfruté mucho del libro, hubo algunas áreas que podrían haber sido más fuertes.. los Cazadores, que son básicamente los enemigos de Los Señores, se sintieron poco desarrollados, sus motivaciones eran claras, si, pero quería más complejidad de su parte, con mucha más profundidad en sus motivaciones y en sus objetivos.. además, aunque el romance fue apasionante, a veces eclipsó la tema principal, espero que los próximos libros profundicen más en el conflicto general, porque el lore aquí es demasiado bueno para quedar en segundo plano. Si son fanáticos del romance paranormal con un toque de meteorología griega, este libro es para ustedes.. considero que es una lectura perfecta para aquellos que aman a los héroes melancólicos y complejos, seguramente encontrarán varios crushes literarios en esta historia, los fanáticos de series como Inmortales tras la Oscuridad se sentirán como en casa aquí.
Y si te gustan las historias donde el romance y la acción se mezclan perfectamente, es muy probable que devoran esta historia igual de rápido como yo lo hice, yo le doy a esta novela una calificación de 4/5 estrellas, la combinación de mitología, romance, pasión me pareció muy buena, también tienen unos personajes que se vuelven inolvidables. Claro, hay algunos detalles mejorables, pero son fáciles de pasar por altos cuando te presentan una historia que es realmente cautivadora.. yo soy fanático de la fantasía y la mitología, considero que tiene como lo mejor de ambos mundos.. si no le han dado una oportunidad, les recomiendo que se adentren a esta gran historia.. y bueno, nos veremos en las próximas reseñas. This is the first I've heard of this author; I like dark fantasy, especially if it has a good hook example. I'll see if I stumble across This book sometime.
