Hello to all my readers, I hope you are all well today. Today I want to share with you my opinions on an interesting book, it is: "The Savage Detectives". This book is great, I swear... it is not a normal novel, it is a journey! It immerses you in the life of a generation that is more lost than a dog at mass, a crude but at the same time fascinating portrait of youth, rebellion and the purest literature, without a filter... from the moment you open the book, "The Savage Detectives" captures you with the vibe of Juan García Madero, this 17-year-old who tells you everything from his diary... his way of narrating, fresh and innocent, makes you feel like you are there with him, exploring the underworld of the real visceralists, that group of half-crazy poets who live their own way, with Arturo Belano and Ulises Lima as the bosses... the main movement of the story is the search for Cesárea Tinajero, a poet almost like a ghost, who is supposed to be the one who started this whole literary thing.
But as in the best novels, the journey is what matters most, you know? The novel is like a collage of voices, memories and testimonies that take you from Mexico to the Sonoran Desert and then all over the world, following them for years. What makes this book so special is that it doesn’t follow a straight line and the way it’s narrated is super risky, it’s divided into three parts, and Bolaño plays with time and with how things are told to you, so you have to put the story together like a puzzle. First, there’s García Madero’s diary, with its youthful and sometimes half-innocent vibe, which throws you headlong into the world of the visceral realists. Then, a big problem arises: a ton of voices, stories of people who crossed paths with Belano and Lima in their travels around the world, giving you loose bits of the story, years and years of lives mixed together without you knowing exactly what the heck they’re looking for. In the end, we return to the diary and the trip to the desert. It’s a risky way of telling things, yes, but brutally effective! It feels alive, messy and chaotic, just like the youth it is showing you!
Hola a todos amigos lectores, espero que hoy se encuentren bien, el día de hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mis opiniones sobre un libro interesante, se trata de: "Los detectives salvajes". Este libro es genial, te lo juro.. no es una novela normal, ¡es un viaje! Te mete de lleno en la vida de una generación que anda más perdida que perro en misa, un retrato crudo pero a la vez fascinante de la juventud, la rebeldía y la literatura más pura, así sin filtro.. desde que abres el libro, "Los detectives salvajes" te atrapa con la onda de Juan García Madero, este joven de 17 años que te cuenta todo desde su diario.. su forma de narrar, fresca y como inocente, te hace sentir que estás ahí con él, explorando el mundo del bajo mundo de los real visceralistas, ese grupo de poetas medio locos que viven a su manera, con Arturo Belano y Ulises Lima como los capos.. la movida principal de la historia es la búsqueda de Cesárea Tinajero, una poeta casi como un fantasma, que se supone que es la que empezó todo este rollo literario.
Pero como en las mejores novelas, el viaje es lo que más importa, ¿sabes? La novela es como un collage de voces, recuerdos y testimonios que te llevan desde México hasta el desierto de Sonora y luego por todo el mundo, siguiéndolos por años.. lo que hace que este libro sea tan especial es que no sigue una línea recta y la forma en que está narrado es súper arriesgada, está dividido en tres partes, y Bolaño juega con el tiempo y con cómo te cuentan las cosas, así que tienes que armar la historia como si fuera un rompecabezas.. primero, está el diario de García Madero, con su rollo juvenil y a veces medio inocentón, que te mete de cabeza en el mundo de los real visceralistas, luego, se arma un gran problema: un montón de voces, historias de gente que se cruzó con Belano y Lima en sus andanzas por el mundo, dándote pedacitos sueltos de la historia, años y años de vidas mezcladas sin que sepas bien qué rayos andan buscando.. al final, volvemos al diario y al viaje al desierto.. es una forma de contar las cosas arriesgada, sí, ¡pero brutalmente efectiva! Se siente viva, desordenada y caótica, ¡igual que la juventud que te está mostrando!
Belano and Lima are like poets lost in the world, almost legendary figures who live on the fringes of everything... sometimes they seem like geniuses that nobody understands, and other times they are just really stubborn guys obsessed with an idea of literature that will lead them to disaster, García Madero, on the other hand, is like us entering this world, a boy who lets himself go and ends up in a giant problem... and not to mention all the others: writers who amounted to nothing, forgotten poets, drunks looking for answers, exiles, teachers who remember them with nostalgia... The novel is full of characters that stay with you, each with their own idea of life and writing, and the book is full of winks to literature, tributes and also mockery of serious literature, the one that thinks it is important, the author plays all the time with what is real and what is not, inventing writers and literary movements that never existed, but that sound so real!
It's like a gift to literature, but also a critique of the literary world that is sometimes half closed, of the hypocrisy of awards and the traps of art... something that I loved is that, although the novel is deep and ambitious, it also throws at you every black joke and every ridiculous situation that will make you die of laughter... it doesn't take itself so seriously, and that makes reading it much cooler, but there's also a melancholic vibe, as if everything these young people are looking for was destined to fail... the novel reminds you that youth is like a fire that burns with everything, but in the end it goes out, that's life.
Belano y Lima son como poetas perdidos en el mundo, figuras casi de leyenda que viven al margen de todo.. a veces te parecen unos genios que nadie entiende, y otras veces solo unos tipos re-testarudos y obsesionados con una idea de la literatura que los va a llevar al desastre, García Madero, en cambio, es como nosotros entrando a este mundo, un chico que se deja llevar y termina metido en un problema gigante.. y ni hablar de todos los demás: escritores que no llegaron a nada, poetas olvidados, borrachos buscando respuestas, exiliados, profes que los recuerdan con nostalgia... La novela está llena de personajes que se te quedan grabados, cada uno con su propia idea de la vida y la escritura, y el libro está lleno de guiños a la literatura, homenajes y también burlas a la literatura seria, la que se cree importante, el autor juega todo el tiempo con lo que es real y lo que no, inventando escritores y movimientos literarios que nunca existieron, ¡pero que suenan tan reales!
Es como un regalo a la literatura, pero también una crítica al mundo literario que a veces es medio cerrado, a la hipocresía de los premios y a las trampas del arte.. algo que me encantó es que, aunque la novela es profunda y ambiciosa, también te suelta cada chiste negro y cada situación ridícula que te mueres de risa.. no se toma tan en serio a sí mismo, y eso hace que leerlo sea mucho más chévere, pero también hay una onda melancólica, como si todo lo que buscan estos jóvenes estuviera destinado a fallar.. la novela te recuerda que la juventud es como un fuego que arde con todo, pero que al final se apaga, así es la vida.
If I have to be honest and tell you something that was a bit difficult for me, it would be the rhythm of the second part, it is the longest and, at times, it can feel like... scattered (? With so many people appearing and changing the story every now and then, it is easy to miss a touch or to ask yourself "but where are we going with all this?" but, if you go with the flow, the experience is totally worth it... it is as if you were listening to a thousand different versions of the same gossip and you had to get the truth out of all that mess. Who do I recommend this book to? Easy, to those who like novels that make you think, that are not the typical linear stories...
If you like writers like Kerouac, I'm sure you will love this book, it is not a read to pass the time, but if it hooks you, it will stay in your head for a while. "The Savage Detectives" is a book that leaves its mark on you, yes or yes... I would give it a... a 4.5 out of 5 stars. 5. It is a raw and at the same time beautiful portrait of a generation that wanted to change the world, but ended up colliding with its own fragility. Bolaño gives us a story of youth, literature and exile that is as chaotic as it is unforgettable. It is not perfect, not even close, but it does not seek to be either. Si tengo que ser sincero y decirles algo que me costó un poco, sería el ritmo de la segunda parte, es que es la más larga y, por momentos, se te puede hacer como... dispersa(? Con tanta gente que aparece y cambia la historia a cada rato, es fácil que te pierdas un toque o que te preguntes "¿pero a dónde vamos con todo esto?" pero, si te dejas llevar por la corriente, la experiencia vale totalmente la pena.. es como si estuvieras escuchando mil versiones diferentes del mismo chisme y tuvieras que sacar la verdad de todo ese lío. ¿A quién le recomiendo este libro? Fácil, a los que les gustan las novelas que te hacen pensar, que no son las típicas historias lineales..
Si te va la onda de escritores como Kerouac, fijo que este libro te va a encantar, no es una lectura para pasar el rato, pero si te engancha, te va a quedar dando vueltas en la cabeza por un buen rato. "Los detectives salvajes" es un libro que te marca, sí o sí.. le daría un... un 4.5 de 5. Es un retrato crudo y a la vez hermoso de una generación que quería cambiar el mundo, pero que terminó chocando con su propia fragilidad, Bolaño nos regala una historia de juventud, literatura y exilio que es tan caótica como inolvidable.. no es perfecta, ni cerca, pero tampoco busca serlo.. creo que justo eso es lo que la hace tan buena.. espero que les haya gustado, nos veremos en las próximas reseñas amigos!

¡WoW a como lo describes lo tiene todo! Llevaba un tiempo deseando encontrar una historia que sea amena pero no por eso que pierda profundidad, algo que no es muy común encontrar y por lo visto este libro lo tiene.
