And then I thought about how I am working round the clock, night and day, cranking out this new Hive streaming platform, under my own volition, with the only deadline being those I impose on myself to meet my users requests ASAP, at my own frenetic pace which is far more intense than most (but not all, some were inane hours and deadlines) former software engineering jobs I've ever had required of me.
I'm generally the one who pushes myself the hardest. I guess the difference is when I do it to myself I don't feel the extra pressure of having promised someone something and being contractually obligated to fulfill it. I'm not saying the contract is a bad thing, obviously, but it's extra pressure when I'm already really good at putting that pressure on myself.
Contracts in any business can add stress and change the overall outcome from doing what you love to doing what you must. I like the parallel you drew with the music business there.
Then I thought about how my platform will enable media creatives to have another avenue to do it for themselves without a publisher overlord, without a contract to pay them to make media, how it enables even more people to have another place to try to do things on their own, for themselves and their audiences.
I really hope the streaming platform takes off! I've never done a live stream of anything, considering how many takes I need to get things right, but I'm guessing any video will work on your platform. I will have to take a look. Can I post there and YouTube/Rumble also I wonder?
I'm so glad you got me to pick up my guitar again. I needed that. I hope all our endeavors take off. As far as they need to fly to take us to where we want to go, short trip or long haul, either way. As long as we get to choose the destinations for ourselves and head toward it.
As for my platform, no, we don't actually "store" videos right now, it's all about the live experience, but I am aware that I need to make it easy to archive things, and I am working on that.
And more on that later as features and functions and capabilities continue to develop, nearly every single day at this early stage on the public stage, while staging priorities.
For now you can upload a limited size and quantity of video clips to promote your live streaming shows like commercials, trailer, teaser clip level stuff, but not long form. I can't afford the storage and bandwidth on this thing right now, building it alone, with no money behind me or in my own back pocket either. No contract for me on this one, it's pro bono work for now with loftier goals down the line.
The "destination" from paragraph one up there above this, for me, so to speak, is an internationally viable income for my dual life in the USA and my place in Costa Rica. A long haul destination, at the moment, the way things are going in the journey toward it.
Keep picking on your guitar, it likes those attacks, (and I like the puns), and sword fighting with your mighty pen. One kills fascism and the other slays demons. Or maybe both do both. So do both. Definitely do more of both!
