I had a conversation with @macchiata a few days ago about staying without your gadgets for hours or days which I firmly told her that I will fall sick if I tried it; a bit obsessive right?
Well, as the universe may have it, due to the flood which has literally separated my state from the rest of the country and made it hard for anything to enter, there has been a fuel shortage, and electricity was put out which forced me to stay without my phone.
Now at the beginning of the day, I didn't know what to do, everything I had was on my phone so what could I do? Well, read! that was my only option and for the first time in a while, I got to finish a book in a day.
This review is a result of that, so without further ado, let's get into reviewing “obsession by Netty Ejike”.

FIRST LOOK
When I saw this book, I immediately thought it was a sexual book because of the name and the cover; there are sexual scenes but overall, it isn't as bad as I thought it will be based on the cover.
Moving on, the cover wasn't anything special, I can understand why though because it was created in 2010 and it was the first book of this author apparently but, based on the cover, I wouldn't have actually read this book.
PREMISE
The book surrounds Shane and Lily who have known each other for years and are best friends regardless of their age gap, their friendship is thriving even though everyone is suspicious of it but, everything starts going wrong when one of them announce that they are getting married.
MY THOUGHTS
This book was, uhm, interesting to say the least and I wouldn't have read it if I had my phone with me.
The story had been told before over and over and I feel like it was nothing special, as someone who reads a lot and watches a lot of movies, this troupe is a familiar one in the romance genre; best friends, feelings, friction.
Also, I did have some concerns about the book; first, Lily being 8 years old and meeting a 16 years old Shane, this for me was wrong even though they didn't do anything.
I also feel like some of the drama was unnecessary and some part of the plot wasn't that good.
RATINGS
I don't want to be too mean with this rating because even though, I didn't exactly like it, I feel like if this is your first time reading this kind of novel you might enjoy it.
Because of this, I will be giving it a 4.5, for me, this is a balance between my feelings towards this novel and not just writing it off because someone did put energy into it so, yeah.
IN CONCLUSION
If you don't read this book, it will make no difference in your life and this might sound mean but, I feel like this novel is just one of those things that you read when you are bored and forget about it afterward.
I am glad that it was available though because it did help me survive the day without my phone.
