Hello Hello Community! ✨, Remember how I've told you that reading takes my mind off university and de-stresses me? Well, it happened to me with this book, just like with its predecessor, because the story was so long, interesting and entertaining to read, that once I grabbed the book and got hooked on the story, I wasn't able to put it down until I had devoured a good part of the pages, I'm not saying that the book is completely finished, because this one in particular is much longer than the first one, and because halfway through the story I got a bit disconnected, but we'll talk about that later, so without further ado let's start with the review of Iron Flame.
🐲 SYNOPSIS ⚡
Violet Sorrengail has made it through her first year in the Rider Quadrant, but that doesn't make her safe by a long shot. Now that she is a second year student, the challenges increase, and every day she moves into a survival space where all her physical and mental abilities are tested, especially now that she is privy to a secret that endangers the entire continent, a secret that puts her life at risk and makes her the perfect target to unravel the mysteries behind Xaden Riorson. Their lives are bound together in a myriad of ways, but love is the strongest and most dangerous reason why one would lay down their life for the other, and many people are not suited to such a powerful relationship.
🐲 ROMANCE, SECRETS AND A MORTAL ENEMY ⚡
Is this book as good and impressive as the first one, well the answer is yes and no, by this I don't mean that I didn't like the book, but I felt it innecesarily long, to the point that after half of it I was already exhausted of the story, of everything that was happening and everything that I suspected was coming, so my mind couldn't continue processing the reading and simply disconnected, and that disconnection made me have to stop the book for at least a week.
But what really happened, it turns out that the book is divided in two (Part I and Part II), it reaches approximately 800 pages and many of them feel a bit like filler, both in the first and in the second part, however I personally felt like I was reading two books, it is true that there were chapters or scenes that felt a little extra, but when you saw the book in general, what I mean is that it could easily have been two separate books where certain things were given more development, and I think they would have been perfect.
That means that both parts complemented each other separately, absolutely yes, in fact the way the first part of the book ends would have been perfect as an ending, just like that without any modification. Even so, the book is fantastic, I don't want you to misinterpret my review, the story catches you a lot, there are scenes that are a masterpiece and others that destroy you completely, there is a chapter where a torture is narrated that makes you desperate and at least it made me cry, maybe I would have extended that torture one or two more chapters hahaha, but it's because I'm crazy.
One of the things that I love, is the development that they have given to the protagonist, from the beginning of the first book to the end of this second one, you feel how you find yourself in front of two different people, with the same values but with a different strength, We are no longer facing the weakling of the group but one of the most powerful riders, if not the most powerful, although I must admit that it stresses me a lot that saviour complex that they are giving her chapter after chapter, so she can't be still for a moment and stop getting into trouble?
And it is precisely in this desire of wanting to be the one who knows everything, the one who saves everyone and who must always risk for others, that makes a lot of situations happen that are unnecessary to happen, although I love its development it is true that sometimes it feels like ‘I'm the only one who can do it because of the power I have ’, and it's a bit unbearable to read at times, but I don't penalize the author too much for this, because for some reason this has become a common cliché in the fantasy genre, almost all female protagonists in this genre fulfill this role, and although with some it works perfectly, with others it becomes a bit tedious.
Just as it sometimes becomes tiresome to read that in moments of maximum tension, the male protagonist appears to save everything, and although I love Xaden, I do wish he was less Violet's nanny, especially in the first part of the book is very marked that overprotection he feels for her and it was sometimes annoying to read.
I'm still left with the desire to have parts of the story narrated by Xaden, especially in this book where the two of them spent time apart, I think it would have been an excellent opportunity to introduce one or another chapter told by him, or even by other characters, I feel it is a very complex story that can be much more enriching if they began to involve other narratives, that not only would give more breadth to the reader, but also would give more relevance to other characters that are quite interesting, including the male protagonist himself.
As in the first book, here we also have an important death, personally I was more hurt by the death of the character in the first book, but that doesn't take away the weight of this one, especially being who he was. I already knew the ending of the book, because I got a spoiler by tik tok, but I didn't know all the context so I found it quite frustrating to read it, did it leave me stung how this book ended, well of course and my head has obviously started to theorize haha, but I'll have to wait a little bit to know if my theories are true or not.

¡Hola Hola Comunidad! ✨, ¿Se acuerdan que les he comentado que leer hace que me despeje y me desestrese de la universidad? Pues justamente con éste libro me pasó, al igual que con su predecesor, pues la historia era tan larga, interesante y entretenida de leer, que una vez que agarré el libro y me enganché con la historia, no fuí capaz de soltarlo hasta tener una buena parte de las páginas devoradas, no digo que el libro completamente acabado, porque éste particularmente es mucho más largo que el primero, y porque a mitad de la historia me desconecté un poco, pero de eso ya hablaremos a continuación, así que sin más que agregar comencemos con la reseña de Alas de Hierro
🐲 SINOPSIS ⚡
Violet Sorrengail ha logrado sobrevivir al primer año en el Cuadrante de Jinetes, pero eso ni de lejos la pone en una situación segura, pues ahora que es estudiante de segundo año los retos aumentan, y cada día se mueve en un espacio de supervivencia en la que se ponen a prueba todas sus capacidades físicas y mentales, sobre todo ahora que es conocedora de un secreto que pone en peligro a todo el continente, un secreto que pone su vida en riesgo y la convierte en el blanco perfecto para desentrañar los misterios que hay detrás de Xaden Riorson. Sus vidas se encuentran unidas de muchísimas formas, pero el amor apunta a ser la razón más fuerte y peligrosa por la que uno daría la vida por el otro, y a muchas personas no les conviene una relación así de poderosa.
🐲 ROMANCE, SECRETOS Y UN ENEMIGO MORTAL ⚡
¿Es este libro igual de bueno e impresionante que el primero?, pues la respuesta es sí y no, con esto no quiero decir que el libro no me haya gustado, sino que lo sentí innecesariamente largo, hasta llegar al punto en que después de la mitad ya estaba agotadisima de la historia, de todo lo que estaba pasando y de todo lo que sospechaba que se venía, así que mi mente no pudo seguir procesando la lectura y sencillamente se desconecto, y esa desconexión me hizo tener que parar el libro por al menos una semana.
Pero, ¿qué fue lo que realmente pasó?, pues resulta que el libro se encuentra dividido en dos (Parte I y Parte II), alcanza aproximadamente las 800 páginas y muchas de ellas se sienten un poco como relleno, tanto en la primera como en la segunda parte, sin embargo yo personalmente sentí que estaba leyendo dos libros, es decir sí es verdad que había capítulos o escenas que se sentían un poco de más, pero cuando veías el libro en general, a lo que quiero llegar es que fácilmente pudieron ser dos libros separados en donde se le diera mayor desarrollo a ciertas cosas, y creo que que habrían quedado perfectos.
¿Eso quiere decir que ambas partes se complementaban por separado?, totalmente si, de hecho la forma en como acaba la primera parte del libro habría quedado perfecta como final, así sin ninguna modificación. Aun así el libro es fantastico, no quiero que malinterpreten mi critica, la historia nuevamente te atrapa un montón, hay escenas que son una obra maestra y otras que te destrozan por completo, hay un capitulo donde se narra una tortura que te desespera y al menos a mí me hizo llorar, capaz yo hubiese alargado esa tortura uno o dos capitulos más jajaja, pero es porque yo estoy loca.
Una de las cosas que me encantan, es el desarrollo que le han dado a la protagonista, desde el inicio del primer libro hasta el final de este segundo, sientes cómo te encuentras ante dos personas distintas, con los mismos valores pero con una fortaleza diferente, ya no estamos ante la debilucha del grupo sino ante una de las jinetes más poderosas, sino es que la más poderosa, aunque sí debo admitir que me estresa un montón ese complejo de salvadora que le van adjudicando capitulo tras capitulo, ¿o sea no se puede estar quieta un momento y dejar de meterse en problemas?
Y es que justamente en ese afán de querer ser la que sepa todo, la que salve a todos y la que siempre debe arriesgarse por los demás, es que hace que un montón de situaciones ocurran que son innecesarias que pasen, aunque me encanta su desarrollo sí es verdad que a veces se siente como “es que soy la única que puede hacerlo por el poder que tengo”, y resulta un poco insoportable de leer en ciertas ocasiones, igual no penalizo demasiado a la autora por esto, porque por alguna razón este se ha convertido en un cliché común entre el género de fantasía, casi todas las protagonistas femeninas de este género cumplen este rol, y aunque con algunas funciona a la perfección, con otras se vuelve algo tedioso.
Igual que en ocasiones se vuelve cansado leer que en momentos de máxima tensión, aparezca el protagonista masculino a salvar todo, y aunque yo amo a Xaden, sí me gustaría que fuese menos la niñera de Violet, sobre todo en la primera parte del libro es muy marca esa sobreprotección que siente por ella y que resultaba a veces fastidioso de leer.
Me sigo quedando con las ganas de tener partes de la historia narradas por Xaden, sobre todo en este libro donde ellos dos pasaban tiempo separados, creo que habría sido una oportunidad excelente para introducir uno que otro capítulo contado por él, o incluso por otros personajes, siento que es una historia bastante compleja que puede ser muchísimo más enriquecedora si se comenzaran a involucrar otras narraciones, eso no solo le daria mas amplitud al lector, sino que también le daría mayor relevancia a otros personajes que son bastante interesantes, incluyendo al mismo protagonista masculino.
Al igual que en el primer libro, aquí también tenemos una muerte bastante importante, personalmente me dolió más la muerte del personaje del primer libro, pero no con eso le quito peso a ésta, sobre todo ser quien era. El final del libro ya lo sabía, porque me lleve un spoiler por tik tok, pero no conocía todo el contexto así que sí me resultó bastante frustrante leerlo, ¿me dejo picada como acabo este libro?, pues por supuesto y mi cabeza obviamente ha comenzado a teorizar jaja, pero me tocará esperar un poquito para saber si mis teorías son ciertas o no.

Y por eso me gusta que ahora de esté tratando de que sean las mujeres quienes ocupen ese lugar, pero también creo que es un trabajo que hay que saber llevar.
