What a beautiful sounding book; to wonder - was the young man they were both connected to a 'concept' or himself a metaphor for the ideal love?

Very interesting question. It could be the idealization of romantic love to which we have become accustomed and the sadness for not having achieved it. Or, it could even be a metaphor for suicide seen in the romantic way; there are those who give themselves to death with such conviction and naturalness, that they seem to love the idea (hence the young man with black hair and blue eyes, he could be the personification of death). I invite you to read it and let me know what you think.
