Read with Meso! Review with Mesonia!! Hello bookies!!!
How to Kill Men and Get Away with it! A book written by katy Brent, read by thousands of other humans (I'm guessing mostly females) and well, ME!
How to kill men and get away with it which i will now use acronym to refer to, HTKMAGAWI is nky the typical novel i would go for but i found myself reading it.
Why? Why would i leave my beautiful fantasy fairytale world of romantic comedy for a dark comedy? I wouldn't know, either. I woke up heartbroken by an xy chromosome and in a bid to passively release my anger through an art work (which i used to do through singing music) i decided to try something different for the first time especially since my colleague friend at school is really into books like this. Turns out the title of the book was anything but literal!
So, the book follows the story of a social media influencer, kitty Collins, who becomes a serial killer by mistake after accidentally killing a man who harassed her. She gets a sense of purpose from this when she begins to hunt down men who assault or hurt women. She starts feeling like a sort of superhero who protects women by getting rid of these men.

How cliche and funny this line always is
The story is told in a quite comedic way which soothes the dark aspect of the story. infact, it was not as scary and dark as i thought...i hate horror related stories. This book also touches the very topic of misogyny and the fear which women have of walking late in the night due to the same fear of being harassed and assaulted. At some point, the story had me rethinking my choices of eating meat - you have to read it to know why.
In all, i really appreciate the author's smooth delivery when it comes to comedy, humour and sarcasm. it made a very easy rwad as such and this mase me look for other books to read. So, i would definitely recommend HTKMAGAWI to someone who wants to get into dark comedy.
I would give it a rating of 4 out of 5. I don't know if its just me, but i loved it. Although the ending of the story was a bit of a cliffhanger for me.
I cackled at a lot of wordplay. Though this might still be a sensitive read to many, i think its a good start.
Have you read this book, what did you think about it? Do you have a different rating from mine? Please let me know! Also , do you have other katy brent books to be recommended? Please do so.
