Leonardo da vinci: el primer científico
Al escuchar o leer el nombre de Leonardo da Vinci ¿Qué es lo primero que se le viene a la cabeza? ¿Quizá la palabra “artista”? bueno, es la labor por la que se hizo reconocido, incluso hoy en día, pero lo cierto es que este hombre fue un genio de su tiempo, fue un hombre con muchas habilidades y se dedicó a estudiar múltiples áreas del conocimiento como la óptica, la mecánica, la arquitectura, la anatomía, la geología, entre muchas otras, en las que presentó brillantes ideas y avances.
Este libro se trata de una biografía que copila no solo los experimentos de Leonardo, sino que también se trata de una cronología de su historia personal, aborda distintos aspectos sobre su familia, su homosexualidad, el impulso que lo llevó a estudiar tantas áreas y sus relaciones e influencias con las figuras más poderosas de su época.

Leonardo da Vinci: the first scientist
When you hear or read the name Leonardo da Vinci, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Perhaps the word "artist"? Well, it is the work for which he became recognized, even today, but the truth is that this man was a genius of his time, he was a man with many skills and was dedicated to studying multiple areas of knowledge such as optics, mechanics, architecture, anatomy, geology, among many others, in which he presented brilliant ideas and advances.
This book is a biography that compiles not only Leonardo's experiments, but it is also a chronology of his personal history, it deals with different aspects of his family, his homosexuality, the impulse that led him to study so many areas and his relationships and influences with the most powerful figures of his time.

Este libro llegó a mis manos por un amigo que pensó que me gustaría leerlo, ya saben, Leonardo fue una figura especial en el mundo del arte, y por supuesto yo conocía una pequeña parte de su historia con anterioridad. Sin embargo, yo estaba un poco escéptica de si disfrutaría realmente el libro, ya que, llevándome por el título del libro, sería la vida de Leonardo desde un enfoque como científico, así que me preocupaba que no pudiera entender nada de lo que se hablara en este libro, ya que yo no sé muchas cosas de ciencia.
Sin embargo, esta preocupación fue descartada apenas empecé a leer. Y es que, por supuesto, al tratarse de una biografía, se relata la vida de Leonardo en toda su extensión, su infancia y desarrollo en la granja de sus abuelos, sus limitaciones frente a la sociedad por ser hijo ilegítimo, sus primeros pasos en la pintura tras ser aprendiz en el taller de Andrea de Verrochio… Cada paso (al menos, una buena parte de su historia) está descrita en estas páginas de un modo ameno y fluido. Es una lectura totalmente disfrutable, y, puede ser que desde antes yo sintiera fascinación e inspiración por Leonardo Da Vinci, pero logré conectar con su historia.
My opinion
This book came into my hands from a friend who thought I would like to read it, you know, Leonardo was a special figure in the art world, and of course I knew a small part of his story beforehand. However, I was a little skeptical that I would really enjoy the book, since, going by the title of the book, it would be Leonardo's life from a scientist's perspective, so I was worried that I might not understand anything that was talked about in this book, since I don't know much about science.
However, this concern was dismissed as soon as I started reading. And, of course, being a biography, Leonardo's life is told in its entirety, his childhood and development on his grandparents' farm, his limitations in society as an illegitimate son, his first steps in painting after being an apprentice in Andrea de Verrochio's art studio... Each step (at least, a good part of his story) is described in these pages in a pleasant and fluent way. It is a thoroughly enjoyable read, and, maybe I was fascinated and inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci before, but I managed to connect with his story.
Si bien este libro nos ofrece un ángulo nuevo de la vida de Leonardo, el autor no deja de recalcar que hay muchos datos que son ignorados, así que después de un estudio de las notas o cartas relatadas por Leonardo es que se predicen o se suponen ciertos hechos; y es que, si bien al morir dejó muchos cuadernos llenos de estudios y anotaciones de sus ideas, muchos papeles, cartas y demás se deterioraron o se extraviaron con el pasar de los siglos, lo cual es muy lamentable.
Es un libro sumamente interesante, permite adentrarnos, aunque fuera en una pequeña parte de la mente de este gran personaje. Siento que una reseña se queda corta para todo lo que me gustaría comentar, jajaja. Leonardo fue un hombre pacífico y tranquilo, tenía sed del conocimiento y por eso continuó investigando y experimentando en aquellas áreas que le apasionaban, primero, fue la pintura, pero conforme los años pasaban, su forma de percibir la vida y las conexiones de los elementos y las ramas del conocimiento fue casi totalizadora, poseía una mente analizadora y metódica. Además, supo cómo ganarse a las personalidades de más alto rango en Italia, nunca desaprovechó la oportunidad de presentar proyectos de infraestructura o diseños armamentistas a los reyes o jefes de estado, y también realizó grandes amistades con otros artistas de la época.
Although this book offers us a new angle of Leonardo's life, the author does not fail to emphasize that there are many facts that are ignored, so after a study of the notes or letters recounted by Leonardo is that certain facts are predicted or assumed; and is that, although when he died he left many notebooks full of studies and notes of his ideas, many papers, letters and others deteriorated or were lost over the centuries, which is very unfortunate.
It is an extremely interesting book, it allows us to enter, even if it was in a small part of the mind of this great character. I feel that a review is too short for everything I would like to comment XD. Leonardo was a peaceful and quiet man, he was thirsty for knowledge and therefore continued to investigate and experiment in those areas he was passionate about, first, it was painting, but as the years passed, his way of perceiving life and the connections of the elements and branches of knowledge was almost totalizing, he possessed an analytical and methodical mind. In addition, he knew how to win over the highest ranking personalities in Italy, he never missed the opportunity to present infrastructure projects or armament designs to kings or heads of state, and he also made great friendships with other artists of the time.
Leonardo supo darnos una visión global del mundo (…) y esto lo convierte no solo en un gran desvelador de lo que era entonces un misterio, sino en un hombre excepcionalmente dotado para comunicar a lo largo de los siglos sus hallazgos y su visión.
Ahora, no me van a decir que no les atrae conocer más de este personaje tan importante de la historia. En lo personal, me siento muy contenta de haber leído este libro, siento que es importante conocer estas figuras, nos ayudan a conocer la historia del mundo y entender referencias futuras.
The author alludes to him as the first scientist because he possessed many skills and abilities of a scientist, he investigated, analyzed, developed ideas and experimented. However, I could not affirm that this is totally true since I have no knowledge of other references of renaissance scientists, although it is true that Leonardo made advances in many disciplines, perhaps there are other characters that before or after his time developed their ideas and whose results were published (since Leonardo did not publish his findings during his lifetime).
Leonardo knew how to give us a global vision of the world (...) and this makes him not only a great revealer of what was then a mystery, but a man exceptionally gifted to communicate over the centuries his findings and his vision.
Now, don't tell me that you are not attracted to learn more about this important figure in history. Personally, I am very happy to have read this book, I feel it is important to know these figures, they help us to know the history of the world and to understand future references.

I have a little bit of insight into the life of Leonardo da Vinci and his art journey in the book, Master, written by Robert Kiyosaki.
But I would love to read this one too since you mentioned there are deep revelations about him in this particular book.

Although I liked this book, I feel it would be good to read other biographies and draw my conclusions.
