Happy Sunday Hivers how are you? Yesterday it was a very cold and rainy day with us and I take advantage of these days of bad weather to read more books. Winter is a great time to read. As you know by now if you follow my blog I have a predilection for thriller books. Yesterday I finished this book by Suzy k Quinn, I was very happy because I found this book by chance, in the free library of the laundry and it was a pleasant discovery. A simple thriller with an important theme of domestic violence and child abuse.
This book is about Lizzie, a single mother with a terrible past, a toxic mother who has influenced her life, making her fragile, with low self-esteem and vulnerable, in need of love. A love that she believes she will find in Olly, a beautiful, rich, popular, charming boy, full of friends, a promise of sport. He notices her and in a short time makes her feel unique, special, but his love is the classic narcissist's script, with a phase of love bombing and then devaluation, Olly turns out to be not a dream but a nightmare, Lizzie thus becomes a victim, especially after she becomes pregnant. She is then no longer able to leave Olly who becomes increasingly manipulative and violent. In the book there are various times of narration, this is the part of the past narrated mostly by Lizzie herself but there is also the present in multiple voices, that of the protagonist and also that of the social worker and Lizzie's mother, Ruth.

Como ya sabrás si sigues mi blog tengo predilección por los libros de suspense. Ayer terminé este libro de Suzy k Quinn, quedé muy feliz porque encontré este libro por casualidad, en la biblioteca gratuita de la lavandería y fue un descubrimiento agradable. Un thriller sencillo con un tema importante de violencia doméstica y abuso infantil. Este libro trata sobre Lizzie, una madre soltera con un pasado terrible, una madre tóxica que ha influido en su vida, volviéndola frágil, con baja autoestima y vulnerable, necesitada de amor.
Un amor que cree encontrar en Olly, un chico bello, rico, popular, encantador, lleno de amigos, una promesa del deporte. Él se fija en ella y en poco tiempo la hace sentir única, especial, pero su amor es el clásico guión narcisista, con una fase de bombardeo amoroso y luego devaluación, Olly resulta no ser un sueño sino una pesadilla, Lizzie se convierte así en una víctima, especialmente después de quedar embarazada. Entonces ya no puede dejar a Olly, quien se vuelve cada vez más manipulador y violento. En el libro hay varios tiempos de narración, esta es la parte del pasado narrada mayoritariamente por la propia Lizzie pero también está el presente en múltiples voces, la de la protagonista y también la de la trabajadora social y madre de Lizzie, Ruth.

Here comes Kate, the social worker who fights against an overloaded system of cases but is interested in Lizzie's case and with her wants to discover the truth about what happens to Tom. Kate doesn't like that school either, where she also follows other children and it seems that the teacher tells lies to cover up something unpleasant. A very interesting thriller, it can be read quickly and with pleasure, the plot is fast-paced and the author keeps curiosity alive, I recommend it. For me I rate 8/10!

En el presente Lizzie se ha escapado de Olly y es seguida por los servicios sociales, aquí vemos la vida con su hijo, las ganas de empezar de nuevo y sobre todo el inicio de un nuevo año escolar para Tom, su hijo en un conocido instituto. con reglas muy estrictas. Lo que debería ser un nuevo comienzo feliz vuelve a convertirse en una pesadilla, la escuela es un lugar inquietante y oscuro, Tom llega a casa con signos extraños y se comporta de manera anormal, siempre está cansado y estresado y su maestra niega cualquier responsabilidad de la escuela.
Lizzie lucha por descubrir la verdad, pero se enfrenta a un muro de silencio y prejuicios y, sobre todo, a una profesora y una directora que parecen todo menos cariñosas y fiables. Aquí llega Kate, la trabajadora social que lucha contra un sistema de casos sobrecargado pero está interesada en el caso de Lizzie y con ella quiere descubrir la verdad sobre lo que le sucede a Tom. A Kate tampoco le gusta esa escuela, donde también sigue a otros niños y parece que la maestra dice mentiras para tapar algo desagradable. Un thriller muy interesante, se lee rápido y con gusto, la trama es trepidante y el autor mantiene viva la curiosidad, lo recomiendo. ¡Para mí le doy un 8/10!
