The pussycats and Josie

in Hive Book Club8 days ago

I've always been for the books, right from the day I was born.Alright, that might be an exaggeration a bit but it's always been there. I casually just remembered how I used to carry some of my books to school to swap for another one to read from my classmates or other students in school. It was so fun. I read a whole lot, disregarding my school books low-key too. I don't regret anything by the way. It was/is good and although I've grown way past those days, I'm glad I still read books, I'm glad it's still a part of me.

I can still remember that day,I brought an Archie comics to school. Oh my God,the book girlies were gushing over it and I had social anxiety so I was so nervous whilst answering their questions,I didn't know who to lend it out to cause I didn't want anything happening to my comic, didn't want a single tear, crease or scratch. Nothing at all. You can guess how that turned out🫠.

Alright, let's move on to a brief preview/ review about Archie comics. I didn't really read the full Archie comics cause it wasn't really available to me then..I only had and read my copy which was Josie and the pussycats and read some others in school. Since I'm more indebt with Josie and the pussycats,my review would be about them.

"Josie and the Pussycats" is a super fun and vibrant comic series that's all about music, friendship, and adventure. The story centers around Josie McCoy, a talented and determined singer, and her best friends Valerie Brown and Melody Valentine, who make up the iconic girl band known as the Pussycats.

Set in the colorful town of Riverdale, the trio embarks on exciting adventures that often blend their musical aspirations with wild escapades. The comic kicks off with Josie and the Pussycats trying to make a name for themselves in the music industry. They dream of hitting it big, but the journey isn't as smooth as they hoped.

They face the usual challenges of being a young band, including rival musicians, crazy fans, and the ever-present threat of being overshadowed by other artists. One of their main rivals is the snobby band called "The Archies," led by the charming Archie Andrews, who often unintentionally complicates their lives.

As the Pussycats navigate the music scene, they find themselves in a series of hilarious and sometimes outrageous situations. For example, in one storyline, they enter a talent show that turns into a chaotic battle of the bands. The competition is fierce, and the Pussycats must outshine not only their rivals but also deal with unexpected mishaps, like wardrobe malfunctions and miscommunication that leads to some laugh-out-loud moments.

Throughout the series, the friendship between Josie, Valerie, and Melody is at the heart of the story. They support each other through thick and thin, showcasing the importance of female empowerment and camaraderie. There are moments of jealousy and misunderstandings, but they always manage to come together and resolve their issues, emphasizing the strength of their bond.

One of the standout arcs involves the girls getting caught up in a mystery. They inadvertently stumble upon a plot involving a mysterious villain who tries to sabotage their performances. This storyline adds a layer of intrigue to the comic, as the Pussycats don their detective hats to uncover the truth. With clever teamwork and their signature charm, they manage to outsmart the villain, proving that they're not just talented musicians but also capable problem-solvers.

The Pussycats' adventures aren't just about music and mystery; they also explore romantic entanglements. Josie finds herself torn between her feelings for two guys: the sweet and goofy Alan M. and the dashing, yet sometimes infuriating, Archie Andrews. Was Archie really dashing though? This comic was so crazy,I cracked up multiple times. I read it a whole lot of times.

Have a look online for it. There's some pretty good archives which host comics that haven't been in print or really had digital releases for years. Depending on where you are you might even find a physical release at a decent price too! Back in England we have this one shop called Ace Comics and in my town you'd go upstairs (and then somehow downstairs again) and enter this huge room of rows upon rows of sealed releases from previous decades. I wish I had that here in Georgia now.
