INTRODUCTION
Hi guys.. I’m back at it again. So this post is my participation for the Hive book club contest.. So wish me goodluck.
First of I’d liked to start by saying that I don’t consider myself much of a book lover. In fact when I was younger I had a best friend who was madly in love with books, he could literally read five books every month and that was pretty impressive for a 10 year old. He would read various short illustrated stories all week. I on the other hand was absolutely comfortable with just watching cartoons and all day while staying away from all the books. I remember how my mum on several occasions tried to make me emulate him by ensuring that I read just as much books as he did. If he was reading a book, I would have to pick it up when he book was done. I absolutely hated it and I always found ways to escape back to watching TV. Looking back now, I realize what she was trying to do and I am grateful for those experiences with her. I realize now that to a large extent my love and fascination with TV shows and movies and my friends fascination with fiction books aren’t so different from one another. I believe that deep down we both had a fascination for stories and a wild imagination big enough to hold these stories we saw and the once we read. It’s also because of her training that these days I read as much as I do.
What is your favorite time or place to read?
For me the I enjoy reading in the early hours of the day before I start my work. I find that my mind assimilates more during these hours and it’s easier for me to concentrate on the book I’m reading as I usually fall into the habit of reading and contemplating at the same time, especially when it’s nonfiction book. So between the hours of 7am-9am work best for me because it’s just enough time to read a chapter or two and contemplate on the lessons of the chapter.

Another important aspect of reading for me is the place where I read. I sadly get easily distracted and I lose focus easily when I work. It’s a flaw I’m trying to work, I hear there’s a connection between semen retention and increase in focus so hopefully if I fap [that’s a slang word for masturbation by the way] less it would increase my focus. I am yet to try it though but I need all the focus I can get. So right because of my short span focus it’s important that I find a comfortable place to read. This means a place that has little or no movements for my eyes to see and little or no noise for my ears to hear and most importantly no one to talk to even if I get a grand idea from what I’m reading and I desperately want to talk to someone about it to develop the idea. I find that for me the only way to finish a book is read it in a place devoid of almost all distractions in order to get maximum focus.
Do you like to read outdoors, before bed or on the bus on your way to work?
For me it's different because I read at work. I work in a school library and this gives me the ample time and opportunity t read as much as I can. Like I said in the latter parts of the post reading requires a great deal of focus from me just like writing and so the library offers me the opportunity to do both, to read and contemplate about what I read. I haven't actually tried reading outdoors because I believe I would get distracted easily by the sights and sounds that would surround me. Heck if I did I would literally read two pages of the book and spend another 45 minutes daydreaming about the people and places I would be seeing. Ironically the book I'm currently reading points this out as negative daydreaming and emphasizes that I engage in positive daydreaming, even though I'm still trying to figure out what the heck that is just.

Finally I think what makes any book or film enjoyable for me is the story development and character development, they are everything. Recently I started reading more fiction for their stories and their story execution. i believe that a good story transcends every barrier and lives a solid memory I the mind of anyone who sees them. The best stories are the simple one that are told beautifully well. A good story stirs at the right emotions of everyone and leave a feeling of satisfaction in everyone who sees them. Take for example Chinua Achebe’s a man of the people. The story tells us about Odilli and his revenge against his former teacher now turn Senator who steals his love interest from him because of his wealth and status only for Odilli to end up taking his soon to be second wife and the senator losing everything. Such stories are easy relatable and enjoyable by everyone especially when it is told expertly
This is where I draw the curtain.. I hope you had a nice read and please do drop a comment down below and like the post. It goes a long way and I'll see you next week
Working in a library is a great job to spend hours and hours reading, how lucky you are!
Indeed it is
Do you know the tv series YOU? When someone says they work in a library my mind immediately goes to that show.
