I recently reviewed Salomon's gardens, a book of short stories by Venezuelan writer Liliana Lara. In this work the author deploys a vibrant and profound narrative that immerses us in the city environments of Maturin and Cumana. Cuando empecé a leer quedé atrapada por el estilo narrativo de esta destacada escritora contemporánea, pues es intrigante y envolvente. Me atrajo su habilidad para crear personajes auténticos, pues en cada relato logró una atmósfera única, un viaje emocional que movió mi fibra reflexiva. También me mantuvo atenta para darle forma a las incertidumbres y entender los dilemas morales.
Salomon's gardens is a work that stands out for its literary quality and social relevance, it captures the human essence in all its complexity. The stories that most caught my attention were: "The Dollar" (the explanation for the absence of accent is included in the text) and "Nina Hagen's Dog", both are excellent examples of the author's versatility and creativity.

In "The Dollar", the narrative voice immerses us between the lines, there is marked the obsession of a character who clings to an ideal, established by the figure of Ernest Hemingway, an American writer very influential in world literature, there we are invited to reflect on the limits of idolatry and the consequences of clinging to the illusory.
En "El dolar", la voz narrativa nos sumerge entre líneas, allí queda marcada la obsesión de un personaje que se aferra a un ideal, instaurado por la figura de Ernest Hemingway, un escritor norteaméricano muy influyente en la literatura universal, allí se nos invita a reflexionar sobre los límites de la idolatría y las consecuencias de aferrarse a lo ilusorio.
On the other hand, the story "Nina Hagen's dog" deals with self-discovery and sexual inclinations in adolescence. It also highlights the influence of the media on the youngest minds, with emphasis on the television shows of spectacles. Desires and insecurities appear on paper and the stories intertwine until they find a real focal point.
Por otro lado, el cuento "El perro de Nina Hagen" aborda el autodescubrimiento y las inclinaciones sexuales en plena adolescencia. Además, resalta la influencia de los medios de comunicación en las mentes más jóvenes, haciendo énfasis en los programas televisivos de espectáculos. Los deseos y las inseguridades aparecen sobre el papel y las historias se entrelazan hasta encontrar un verdadero punto focal.
The characters are very well constructed, so much so that they transcend the plane of fiction and feel very close, a characteristic that is repeated throughout the work, it is evident then that recognizable realities are presented. Even, profiles of people with inclinations towards perversion and emotional instability are built. The reading is shocking when the references can be seen in everyday life.
Los personajes están muy bien construídos, tanto así que trascienden el plano de la ficción y se sienten muy cercanos, una característica que se repite a lo largo de la obra, es evidente entonces que se presentan realidades reconocibles. Incluso, se construyen perfiles de personas con inclinaciones hacia la perversión e inestables a nivel emocional. La lectura resulta impactante cuando las referencias se pueden advertir en la cotidianidad.
Being a book of short stories, each story can be read independently, however, Liliana Lara weaves stories that are close, as if each story were an apartment in a large building, so they seem intertwined narratives where several characters become valuable and are transcendental to understand what the author intends to show us throughout the journey through the pages.
Al ser un libro de cuentos, cada relato puede ser leído de forma independiente, sin embargo, Liliana Lara nos teje historias que son próximas, como si cada cuento fuera un apartamento de un gran edificio, por ello parecen narraciones entrelazadas donde varios personajes cobran valor y son trascendentales para entender qué nos pretende mostrar la autora a lo largo de todo el recorrido por las páginas.

Qué gusto leerte hablar de literatura, se nota a leguas que lo disfrutas.
No tenía idea sobre esta autora, me he propuesto leer a mas autoras Venezolanas pero no he tenido los recursos a mano. Este libro me parece sumamente interesante, los relatos son una forma divertida para conocer a un nuevo autor.
