Books, books, books. I don't think I can start to emphasize how much I love and adore books, they totally changed my life and gave me a paradigm shift so when I saw this contest,I immediately decided to make an entry because stuffs like this is what I'm all down for❣️. As much as I love hardcopies, I find it easier and cheaper to read on my phone so yes,my phone contains 80% of my book library.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PLACE OR TIME TO READ?
I don't think I have a favorite place or time. I read even when I'm standing on a queue and when I find a great book,I just read it whenever and wherever. When I was 15,my sister calls me a 'voracious reader' and when I looked the word up in the dictionary,I just couldn't agree more.
WHAT MAKES YOU ENJOY A BOOK?
This is an interesting question because I've dumped many books because of the theme they imply. What makes me enjoy a book is it's realism,be it fiction or nonfiction. I love books that are artistic representation of reality,I want to see the world through the author's eye and hopefully, get pointers for my own journey. For this reason, I love poetry, biographies and autobiographies, African fiction, crime novels, Christian and motivational books and a little romance. I don't do well with fantasies so I strictly avoid books that depicts a Roman god and his 'sexy' teenage princess because it doesn't seem real to me.
DO YOU READ OUTDOORS, BEFORE BED OR ON THE BUS ON YOUR WAY TO WORK?
I read everywhere,I like to take a break from my mundane daily routine and just dive right in but I mostly read before bed because of the nocturnal calm and serenity.
DO YOU FOCUS ON CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, THOUGHTFUL MESSAGES OR THE LEVEL OF INTRIGUE A PLOT GENERATES IN YOU?
I'm attentive to all the above mentioned. This is the highlight of every book for me. I have a thing for villains lol and I think it is very necessary to not just depict your villian as a bad person but introduce emotional traits and weaknesses that keeps your readers hitched (Harlen Coben does this for me everytime) and I love red herrings no matter how crazy it drives me lol. I'm always on the outlook for thoughtful messages in every book, infact I have a book used for writing down every sentence that makes me pause. I believe you can miss out of something amazing just because you weren't paying attention so I try to pay attention to every detail and read in between the lines and not just fly to the every next sentence that interests you.
I like plots that keep me on my toes(I'll give Dan Brown this). I'm a very personal and emotional reader,I connect to books in ways that still amazes me and I infact wrote a poem about my favorite authors and how much they helped me through difficult situations and their philosophies shone a light to dark and blurry days. I love Mark Mason and I think he's the most realistic writer I've met (not literally) and I'm absolutely obsessed, 50% of the content of my 'book of life', like I like to call it, were from him or inspired by him.
Books are crucial in life and I never fail to lecture anyone who gives me a second on how it can/would transform your values, perspective and life. Reading have always been my panacea and there's never a question I had that books didn't answer. I'm of a strong belief that the world would be a better place if we all just read and I wrote it sometime in May to kinda corroborate my prognosis.
I invite @lizzyblue2 and @wolfofnostreet to participate ❣️
Thanks for the tag :) and great submission. I've already made my submission to this contest 😁. I like your decision to go for books that depict reality and a flawed villain. Cheers
