RE: 'Battle Chasers' Review: Twenty years in the making, with no end set

in Hive Book Club14 days ago

I was gonna say twenty years that sounds like me, but no not like me, mine do have beginnings and middles and ends, I'm just having trouble getting to a stage where I can start putting it out x_x

The track does sound like a lot of comics that started around then (and even now, though I am also primarily looking at indi creators and not publishing houses of any size and definitely not the big ones which I very quickly lost all interest in when they became too formulaic) where they start strong and then peter out either because the creator loses interest or didn't have a plot to begin with.

pantsing is really fun and easy til you realise you suddenly want to do deeper/more complicated storylines and you've written yourself into a corner XD

I actually think the real fun (the comic hasn't been bad) were the late 90s and early 2000s ads that Image put into their comics. Anti-smoking ads that say 'TEEN SMOKING IS WHACKY' :D

A lot of really fun video game release ads for games known and unknown. The whole comic felt like a time capsule. You don't really see that these days, I think the publishers know people hate ads and keep anything ad related at the front or back and still very related to comics.
