I was walking along with one of the avenues in the center of Valencia and suddenly I stop at a magazine stand where I always bought crochet magazines and one or another novel. And I see that the owner of the stand is selling used books and my sight is fixed on a book that has no flap and I read its spine: The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring by J.J.R.Tolkien.
Iba caminando por una de las avenidas del centro de Valencia y de pronto me detengo en un puesto de revistas donde siempre compraba revistas de ganchillo y una que otra novela. Y veo que el dueño del puesto está vendiendo libros usados y mi vista se fija en un libro que no tiene solapa y leo su lomo: El Señor de los Anillos La Comunidad del Anillo por J.J.R.Tolkien.
At that time, those who were studying English at the Faculty of Education Sciences were very interested and entertained by this book in English, and several of my friends made the comment to me that I should read it as soon as I could.
En esa época, quienes estudiaban inglés en la Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación estaban muy interesados y entretenido con este libro en inglés, y varios de mis amigos me hicieron el comentario de que lo leyera en cuanto pudiese.
That was the time, I bought that book used for one or two bolivars (at that time it was equivalent to about 20 or 30 cents on the dollar). So I acquired my first volume of The Lord of the Rings. Which by the way was from Editorial Círculo de Lectores.

Later, as the years went by, I bought the two volumes of that fantastic trilogy. In my house, there were three collections of The Lord of the Rings and my first used book, already frayed by so many readings. My sons @laloretoyya and Hiram José Loreto can attest to this because they had in their hands part of my collection and then they added The Silmarillion and The Lost Tales. Then we made believe the collection by buying The Hobbit.
Después, con el transcurso de los años fui comprando los dos tomos de esa fantástica trilogía. En mi casa existieron tres colecciones de El Señor de los Anillos y mi primer libro usado, ya deshilachado por tantas lecturas. De esto pueden dar fe mis hijos @laloretoyya e Hiram José Loreto porque ellos tenían en sus manos parte mi colección y luego, ellos agregaron El Silmarillion y Los Cuentos Perdidos. Luego hicimos creer la colección comprando El Hobbit.

I have always felt very fortunate that my children are great readers like their parents, and that they take pleasure in reading fantasy books or any subject that comes their way. And then I went on to research this writer who blew me away with this beautiful fantasy.

After the filming of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, in the late '90s there was an unexpected turn in terms of knowledge of this wonderful book, people were eager to see it and know why it was becoming so famous and also began to come out all those who had read it and then had forgotten it in their libraries. I can say that, although there are many differences between the books and the movies, I have never failed to be tempted to marathon the movies or read all three volumes in one sitting.
Tras la filmación de la Trilogía de El Señor de los Anillos, a finales de los años 90 se dio un giro inesperado en cuanto al conocimiento de este libro maravilloso, las personas ansiaban verla y conocer porque se estaba volviendo tan famosa y también comenzaron a salir todos aquellos que alguna que la habían leído y luego la habían olvidado en sus bibliotecas. Puedo decir que, aunque existen muchas diferencias entre los libros y las películas, nunca he dejado de sentirme tentada por una maratón de las películas o leer los tres tomos de una sola vez.

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, better known as J.R.R. Tolkien was born in South Africa in 1892, in 1895 his mother decided to take him and his little sister to England because the weather was affecting their health. Tolkien's mother took charge of his education, she taught him the basics of Latin and this child was already reading very well at the age of four and then learned to write, all this caused his curiosity to awaken a great love for languages and then, he began to invent his own languages that he developed throughout his life.

Several years later his mother died and his guardian was Father Morgan, a catholic priest who would continue with his careful education, that is why when Tolkien met the one who would be the love of his life, his father looked with bad eyes the existing relationship and asked Tolkien to wait until his 21st birthday to know if it was going to continue. When he reached the deadline he declared his love to Edith Mary Brath and they were married three years later.

Meanwhile Tolkien followed his interest in philology and continued to create new languages, as well as being interested in European myths and legends that would help him so much in his writing. It was only interrupted as in most of the English when the First World War took place, he suspended his studies to enlist in the army where he was given an administrative position, most of his friends, who formed with him the Tea Club and Barrovian Society (T.C.B.S.), died in the war and he was afflicted by a disease called Trench Fever that was produced by lice.

When he had to rest he created everything we know today about the stories and legends of the ancient days of Middle-earth, he called this set of stories The Lost Tales and it was his way of honoring all those honorable friends who lost their lives in the Great War. He created his great world called Arda and with its creation, he gave strength to the languages he had invented through the years and that has been one of the greatest successes in creating that special world.
Al tener que guardar reposo crea todo lo que hoy en día conocemos sobre las historias y leyendas de los días antiguos de la Tierra Media, a este conjunto de historias los llamó Los Cuentos Perdidos y fue su manera de honrar a todos aquellos honorables amigos que perdieron la vida en la Gran Guerra. Who has not been moved by reading the beautiful poems that Tolkien wrote in this wonderful book? And how the creation of each of the languages and runes to explain the meaning of each of those dialogues between the elves and the dúnadan give it what leaves a pleasant taste when saying them.

This book tells how Frodo Baggins (Bolsón in Spanish translations) makes a journey to get rid of a terrible ring that was inherited in life by Bilbo Baggins (protagonist of The Hobbit) this journey takes him to different parts of Middle Earth and with the help of the various races that populate this world achieves the main task: to take the One Ring to Mordor for its destruction and in this way put an end to his creator: the terrible Sauron. This is broadly what the book is about, but it is unfair to say that this is its only task, this book deals with all the virtues and all the flaws that we humans have but emphasizes loyalty, camaraderie, the good heart of those who star in this masterful work. Although there are moments in which it is believed that they will deviate in their trajectory and become evil, there are actions that make us reconcile again with the character or characters.
Este libro narra cómo Frodo Baggins (Bolsón en las traducciones de habla hispana) realiza un periplo para deshacerse de un terrible anillo que le fue heredado en vida por Bilbo Baggins (protagonista de El Hobbit) este periplo lo lleva a distintas partes de la Tierra Media y con ayuda de las diversas razas que pueblan este mundo logra el cometido principal: llevar a Mordor el Anillo Único para su destrucción y de esta manera acabar a su creador: el terrible Sauron. Esto es a grandes rasgos de lo que trata el libro, pero es injusto decir que ese es su único cometido, este libro trata de todas las virtudes y todos los defectos que tenemos los humanos, pero hace hincapié en la lealtad, la camaradería, el buen corazón de quienes protagonizan esta obra magistral. Aunque hay momentos en los que se cree que ellos se desviarán en su trayectoria y se volverán malvados hay acciones que hacen que nos reconciliemos nuevamente con el o los personajes.

Frodo embodies the character who does not know how he is going to do it but will do it anyway, Sam Gamyi demonstrates loyalty to Frodo to levels that show what true friendship is by becoming for a moment the bearer of the Ring, Merry and Pippin show how they are maturing as so many adventures befall them, equal mention for Gimli the Dwarf and Legolas the Elf, extraordinary beings that turn their natural enmity into a lasting friendship, Boromir is only present in the first volume of the book but he names what most worries the people of Middle-earth: The resurgence of Sauron's shadow in Mordor and the need to confront his reign of terror, just as Aragorn makes his ancestry a fundamental part of his character that leads him to forge Narsil again and turn it into Anduril to battle against Sauron, since the sword had a weight in the first disappearance of the evil being.
Frodo encarna al personaje que no sabe como lo va a hacer pero lo hará de todas formas, Sam Gamyi demuestra la lealtad con Frodo a niveles que demuestran lo que es la verdadera amistad al hacerse por un momento portador del Anillo, Merry y Pippin muestran cómo van madurando al acontecerles tantas aventuras, igual mención para Gimli el Enano y Legolas el Elfo, seres extraordinarios que hacen de su natural enemistad en una amistad duradera, Boromir solo está presente en el primer tomo del libro pero nombra lo que mas inquieta a la gente de la Tierra Media: el resurgimiento de la sombra de Sauron en Mordor y la necesidad de enfrentarse a su reinado de terror, así como Aragorn hace de su ascendencia parte fundamental de su carácter que lo llevan a forjar nuevamente a Narsil y convertirla en Anduril para batallar contra Sauron, puesto que la espada tenía un peso en la primera desaparición del malvado ser.

And finally Gandalf the Grey: a wizard who foresaw that the ring would reappear and it was nothing more and nothing less than in the hands of his friend Bilbo and then he would pass to his nephew Frodo that magic ring that was the doom of humanity as it was known in Middle Earth. Ah! And I forgot a character no less deserving of prominence as it is Gollum, the most tragic character of the book, although many do not consider it so, a fundamental piece of how this exquisite plot develops.
Y por último Gandalf el Gris: un mago que presentía que el anillo reaparecería y fue nada más y nada menos que en las manos de su amigo Bilbo y luego este le pasaría a su sobrino Frodo ese anillo mágico que era la perdición de la humanidad tal cual se conocía en la Tierra Media. ¡Ah! Y olvidaba un personaje no menos merecedor de protagonismo como lo es Gollum, el personaje más trágico del libro, aunque muchos no lo consideran así, pieza fundamental de como se desarrolla esta trama exquisita.

I don't want to make a comparison with the movies, The Lord of the Rings is in itself enough of a name to want to prove that the movies don't have all those details that made me fall in love with this peerless book. I miss not seeing Tom Bombadil or Goldberry in the first film, as well as the substitution of some characters for others, the filmmaker did a great tribute to Tolkien by recreating much of the book in the magnificent films.
No quiero hacer una comparación con las películas, El Señor de los Anillos es de por si suficiente nombre como para querer demostrar que las películas no tienen todos esos detalles que me hicieron enamorar de este libro sin par. Extraño no ver a Tom Bombadil ni a Baya de Oro en la primera película, así como la sustitución de unos personajes por otros, el cineasta hizo un gran homenaje a Tolkien al recrear gran parte del libro en las magníficas películas.

Haha, the number of pages ate pretty overwhelming. When I first saw the lord of the Rings in the Library J visited, I was curious as well as excited. It was so voluminous.
Your character description is very fascinating I would give you that. I can't say I would read the book now, xd, but your review has well enough sparked interest in it.
I remember when I also first walked into a bookstore with so much books, until I found Dan Brown.

Disfruté muchísimo leyendote, sobre todo porque no entendía muy bien el orden en que había que leer estos libros pero ya veo que es solo uno dividido en tres si no me equivoco. Me parece increíble la vida de este autor, sobre todo por eso de que creaba sus propios idiomas. Era un genio. Muy buena publicación 👍
