Not just your ordinary definition of success. This quote is an excerpt from the book I just started reading titled "Shift Your Thinking for Success" by Dean Del Sesto. I bought the book not too long ago in search of a book that would help me maintain my work-life balance and, most especially, serve as a daily meal for my brain.
To be honest, I have not been feeding my mind enough this year. Unlike last year, I read more booksβthough it should not be based on the number of books read but on how much one can adopt and put knowledge into learning. Turning knowledge into applied knowledge takes time, which includes a lot of self-evaluation, meditation, and thinking. This year, I may read fewer books, but I need to make them count and be effective in my life.
Enough of me and now it is time to explore the content of this bookβthough I have not finished reading all the content of the book. What caught my attention about buying this book was the caption: "77 Ways to Win at Work and in Life", I was curious, and I really wanted to know more about how I can do this.
This is the first chapter of the book, which talks about personal branding. I have got to understand that everyone is a brand, and we always need to ask ourselves: if we were to shop for items based on who we are, would we truly pick our brand or keep shopping?
Your brand image, how you continuously improve your brand, and the quality of yourself have a direct effect on how successful you are. You donβt determine success by the items you possess or by what you aim to achieve in life. When you base your success on your goals or possessions, you puncture your self-esteem and feel unsuccessful, leading to a much lower self-esteem.
Your focus on attaining success should not be on the items you achieve but on the continuous evaluation and improvement of yourself and your brand. A little shift in what you do can contribute to the image of your brand, resulting in more sales for your brand.
There is a powerful excerpt from this book, which is: "Those who focus on the way they go about their business rather than what they receive in business somehow receive more from business and life". Take some time and think about this to know where your focus should be.
From this chapter, I have come to understand the meaning of brand, what it means and why it is important. From my understanding, your brand is the total experience people have with you. The perception they make from interacting with you, the way they feel from that interaction and the value they get from it. Our brand determines whether people can trust usβto handle a job, to make use of an opportunity, or more. You now see the reason why you need to evaluate yourself as a brand?
So, think and evaluate yourself. As a brand, would you buy yourself or keep shopping?

Hmm... That question is quite a though one to answer. But if am to be honest, I'll continue shopping. I've literally not builded anything tangible for myself so I won't wish to buy myself.
If there's one thing I lack, it's self development. I've struggled a lot at it. I been all distracted with survival. But I think I might just be catching a balance already. It's time I consider shifting ny focus to developing myself. I need to read books that would help me with the mindset to rebrand myself.
Mostly likely, I will do the same thing as well. I don't think I have anything that I have built that is tangible and also, I have quite a lot to work on myself.
Will be great if you start doing this right away brother. It will help you out in the long run.
Hmm... even you? Ok!
Yeah, will do. Thank you
Branding is a personal thing. I see people in business who think their business or product is the brand. No, the person in the business is the brand.
What you say, how you say it, your value, customer value, your service, the experience of everyone that comes to you, how you impact, influence or talk to people... all these are what makes your brand. Branding is personal.
Yeah, we individually are a brand and whatever we do as individuals or as a business entity contributes or take away from the brand. It is actually more than the name but the experience the business give.
I want to know one thing. Does this book have an online version? I want to read some pages online before I buy the book. I am interested to read the book by reading your review. I hope that that book will be helpful to my future career.
This was a wonderful read. I hope that I can get this book to unravel the treasures hidden in it.
I will be more conscious, knowing that my approach to business is my brand.
Very deep question every one needs to answer if you are a brand will you buy yourself of keep shopping, the more reason why self development goals and self evaluation is necessary cause there's always more to achieve
