There's this joy that comes with reading a book by a local author. It has what a lot of other books don't have, relatability. The author understands you, and your experience, the he tells the story from that angle. What makes it even better is that the story is one of personal experience, with a lot of description to go with it. I set out earlier today to do some street photography, boy it was hard. Then I came across this book store at the the mall. It had this beautiful ambiance, and that book scent, bruh, orgasmic. I will tell you guys about it later. I bought todays book from them.
- Author - A. Igoni Barrett
- Title - Pluck Today, Tomorrow's Wilted Flower

PLOT
The story starts off with a startling scene of a poverty stricken family in the most dire of situations. Everything seems to be in the worst state possible. With the father jobless, the wife, pregnant, and the daughter, who is the protagonist of the story, a street beggar; the whole situation could not get any worse. The day begins with her (the daughter) going out to the city in a lorry to seek alms, and she was sent out by the father. The day gets even worse for her as she could tell of no single gain. But something different was looming in the end. Was it good? Was it bad?
SETTING
No place was mentioned in the story, except a cramped up room in which the family lived. One could guess tho, that this happened in the suburbs of northern nigeria, but then, I'd be also be guilty of the same stereotype that I fault the author for.
CHARACTERS
The characters in the story were unnamed, adding a sense of mystery to the whole plot. There was the father, the mother, the daughter and her brother. Then there was also the random stranger at the end.
PURPOSE
No, I am not going to spill on this one, lol
Wow, that was intense. Intense not in a fast paced, adventure or thriller kind of way, but intense in narration. The level of plot and character description in this story is impeccable. It was so vivid that I created a perfect picture in my head. This is an absolute stellar work, and I have only just read the first story in the collection. I could relate to this in the real sense. The story had this, oomph with it. Like a realization at the death, of what everything truly is. I really enjoyed this one. I would recommend this to every reader. A nice read. The story was this knock of reality. A hard knock it seems. I will also rate it 4.2 out of 5. Great work of literature. Now I can't wait to read the rest of the work.

I can't imagine what that family went through, the father jobless, the mother pregnant while the daughter went out for alms in the street, that is so sad, it a kind of tragically story, the reason i said is that, not everyone would bear to read it seeing what those characters went through.
One of the best review that is understandable, like I am reading the book already.
