I was scrolling through the hive book club community when I stumbled on a book review of the book, Invisible man by H. G. Wells. It was talking about a man who invented the machine to make him invisible but later realized he couldn't turn himself back. It was hilarious. I immediately went hunting for the book and found the free e-book copy on Project Gutenberg. Forgive me, I deviated a bit. The book made me choose to read this particular short story with a similar title and it did not disappoint.

Considered the prince of paradox, G. K. Chesterton has written over 80 novels, 200+ short stories, a good number of poems, and over 4000 essays.

This is a beautifully written story. Chesterton has shown that is a master of the crime fiction genre. It is believed that he was trying to replicate Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle, with the character "Father Brown", but instead of putting the character at the center of the play, you only hear of him and his exploits at the closing stages of his story. Spoiler alert, it's a story about murder, but again the author does not delve straight into that from the beginning, but rather develops it till the end. Thrilling. I loved every bit of this. I was so engrossed in it that I didn't realize it ended. The ending is a bit confusing in my opinion. I will rate this story 4/5 and I totally recommend ittoo.

In a way G. K. Chesterton reminds me of Edgar Allan Poe or H. P. Lovecraft himself, perhaps because he only wrote short stories and never novels, and perhaps for that reason he is not mentioned as the author of the best detective novels.

"The Innocence of Father Brown" is the most beautiful original collection of detective stories ever published. There are stories that are a classic of detective literature, such as "The Blue Cross"

Cool, I didnt know Chesterton also had an Invisible Man story. I read "The Innocence of Father Brown" decades ago, you made me want to read it again. Thank you!

I did see the innocence of father brown.

I would go check that now haha,
