So I just finished this novel and since Amazon won't let me review it because I haven't spent enough $ for their liking ...

(update: reviewed it under someone else's account ;) )
... I'll just promote it here!
Sooo...

𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗲 is a fantasy novel that explores the power of emotions (literally - magic is performed by controlling and enhancing them), our inner psyche and the darker side of existence, while also giving center stage to the hopeless dreamers who try to change things for the better.

In fact, for the most you'll find that even juxtaposed characters are very sincere in their desire to advance the world - they just have very different ideas of what 'better' is and varying levels of liberty as to what price is acceptable to pay to improve said world.

There's several plot lines running simultaneously that weave and intertwine with each other - each intriguing enough on its own, but never feeling detached from the larger picture.

On top of it all, the book feels extremely polished - humorous moments bring a chuckle without feeling like you're listening to an out-of-touch comedian, sincere moments have some profound declarations of the soul and the action never feels dull.

  • You may have noticed that all the characters above are female. Though there is no lack of male characters, the author has decided to take a sort of feminist spin on the fantasy genre. At times I felt this was a little too in-your-face, but for the most it seams well into the story and plays a good plot role.

Overall, I give it a final score of:

𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘯𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘨𝘰
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁

Since I can't vote for it anyway, the exact # doesn't matter. 🤷‍♂️
Get it, it's good.

Disclaimer: I know the author, he's a pretty cool dude 🙃
No, he didn't ask me to post this. In fact, I half-expect him to beg me to take it down 🥴

It sounds like an interesting tale (I so put it on my to read list)! People process and express emotions so differently, so it really makes me want to read it just to see how each user deals with magic and what its toll is on them, not to mention the plot is super intriguing.

The cover art alone makes me want to grab a copy and give it a read, it looks amazing!

Yay! I'm sure the author would also appreciate if you leave a review (even if you end up hating it) - when reading it on Kindle, I left hundreds of comments with my impressions and a few jokes in there :)
Actually pretty excited for part 2 (this should be a trilogy), I started reading thinking "eh, he's a friend - might as well" but got dragged into it a lot more than I expected!

I have a friend who wrote a series of books, and your comment so reminded me of that, lol! I volunteered to read his first book and got sucked in too, but it was totally worth it:) Can't wait to read your friend's story, I will definitely leave a review when I do!
