Nigerian Men will stain your WHITE - Book Review

in Hive Book Club8 months ago
Hello Hive Bibliophiles. My first time writing here and I am about to do a book review.

I love reading as I find out that it increases my vocabulary and makes it easier for me to express myself. Also, my course of study makes me more of a reader, so I do it more times. I love reading books also as it makes me feel a sense of connection with the writer and also the character, most times I feel like I am there and then I feel certain kinds of emotions towards different books.

Today I will be doing a book review on “NIGERIAN MEN WILL STAIN YOUR WHITE” funny how the name sounds and makes me laugh but then this is the truth of the matter. Nigerian men will stain your mind simply means that they will disappoint you in a way that you will never imagine.

This is a Novella by Alexandria Humphrey. I do not have the hard copy just a pdf on my phone library.

The book spins around the life of 4 very close friends and their different lives. It talks about Efua who I feel is the one telling the story and her friends Bola, Rita, and Kemi. They all had their fair share of men disappointing them.

It starts with Efua who is the only married friend in their midst, her marriage seems extremely perfect and her husband happens to be the loving and caring type. She thought she had just one issue in her marriage and that was her mother-in-law who was always taunting her and making her feel different simply because she wanted her son to marry a Nigerian but he settled for a Ghanaian. She is having mother-in-law issues but then it is lovely to see that her husband is standing up for her and taking her side instead of his mother.

Efua is more like the therapist of the group as they also have women gathering most times where she is the host. The women come together and talk about themselves and their lives.

On the other hand is Kemi who still lives with her parents and goes through the pain of her parents disturbing her about getting married and she wakes to daily doze of her parents nagging. When she was finally fixed on a date by her parents with their friends soon. But turns out the date went so terrible as this man is so uncultured and does not care about ladies, he makes decisions for her on a first date.

Bola who is a banker, had her fair share of men as she thought she had found love from a secret admirer who spoilt her silly with everything she needed. Well, the day she went out on a date with him, expecting him to ask her to be his girlfriend, that was when she got a beating of her life from his wife whom he never for ones mentioned to Bola.

Rita hasn’t been in a relationship since after her last relationship crashed so it was difficult for her to get into a relationship. She had a guy invite her for a date after much pressure from Efua to talk to him. After they finish eating, he tries to skip paying the bills which is one of the things few Nigerian men do. She sorted out her bills and left them for him.

You will be thinking Efua had no issue with men as her marriage was perfect will that was not the case as she found out on the last page that her husband was cheating on her, with his gender.

I will recommend this read to anyone as it is super interesting and I will rate it 8/10.

Wtf? This is the real white staining 😭.

I've heard of this book but never got to download the PDF file but now that I just read this little plot, I'm definitely going to download it and read.

When a man is overly nice, just know that he has a secret in his damn cupboard 😭
