Wow, isn't that amazing! It never occurred to me that we could eat fern!
It's normally a feature in a garden here so more ornamental, but why not?

I had a quick look online and it appears you have to use the very young shoots before they uncurl, right? They become bitter and even toxic as they mature?
But there might be different types of course.

You are right, there are some ferns that can be eaten and some that cannot be consumed. And this is one type of fern that can be consumed, its texture is softer than ferns in general.

One more interesting thing is that the very young ones are tastier, but not at all bitter for the old ones.
