It turns out that making vegan food is now very easy to make, especially for you lovers of healthy and handmade food, it will make life very easy. In this era, it's very easy to get vegan meat, it's even sold in supermarkets near the house. Though, a few years ago, I didn't even know what the plant-based meat people were talking about looked like.

I got vegan bbq at a supermarket near my house during my monthly groceries shopping. At that time, I accidentally found it on the cooler rack where several kinds of sausages, nuggets and some frozen food. Even though I was very unfamiliar, I was very curious about the taste at that time, until finally now I'm addicted, it even tastes better than other frozen food that I often buy.

I made vegetable meat more attractive, even my mother-in-law and other relatives don't know that the food I often feed them, comes from plant-based meat. They couldn't believe that I didn't use beef or chicken, they said it tasted very much like the regular sausage I make.

  • 350 gr tofu
  • 150 gr vermicelli

Step by step to make Croquette BBQ;

  • To make bbq croquettes, if use vermicelli, better to making the vermicelli softer, cause is a dry substance, so it's better to soak the vermicelli in water for 20 till 30 minutes first. Can also be soaked in hot water for 5 minutes to make it faster.

  • Clean all of ingredients such as shallots, garlic, coriander leaves and leeks to be hygienic to eat. Then slice thinly all the ingredients and set aside.

  • Puree the tofu and vermicelli using a chopper, blender or fork, you can just use your hands, but I want everything to be quicker and easier, so I use a blender. Then, all the ingredients moved into a large bowl.

  • Use a mold like a small bowl 3-5 cm diameter that has been smeared with a little oil. Its make easier to remove the mold. Set all molds aside for later use.

  • Heat ½ tsp of vegetable oil for sauteing, then put the garlic and shallots into the pan, when start to wilt, put the tofu, vermicelli, leeks and coriander leaves into the wokpan. Give flavors prepared such as salt, pepper, mushroom stock and chili powder. Stir again until all the ingredients are evenly mixed.

  • I also add carrots for added fiber, then mix it into the croquette batter.

  • Cut squares of vegan bbq or vegetable meat, then put the dough into the mold and compact it with the filling, put the vegetable meat right in the middle of the dough. Do it like the example photo below. You can also just shape them without a mould like normal croquettes.

Look at those tiny delicious cups! 😍 I've been vegan for over 7 years and I can say that there has been a tremendous progress in meat substitutes. I usually try to avoid them as I don't miss meat, but they are indeed a great substitute for people who are transitioning or have cravings. Even people eating meat love them!

I will try your recipe for my next dinner party 🙂 Thank you for sharing!

Whoaa, I also just found out that there are meat substitutes. Made from compacted soybeans and topped with a little mashroom and a few other ingredients. But it's definitely 100% vegan, the taste is also very good and similar to meat as we know it.

Aw, it's a beautiful dish, and so delicious 😋

You're lucky to find plant based meat at the super. You seldom see those around here; if you want tofu or vegan meats--as well as many other plant based products, like vegan yogurt or cream--, you must order it from online stores in the country. It's pretty expensive. We must do with mushrooms and soy flour, mainly.

Thank you for a nice dish and post, @aswita 💚🌿

well, I haven't found vegan yogurt yet, but I'm still looking around here. I wish there was and I could make lots of other dishes out of it!

Dang i forgot to buy this when i went to Medan. Now i wanna cry 🥲

Ahahah the croquettes are really delicious, especially with the mash potato, the taste is perfecto.

You bought the meat in brastagi right? I went there two or three times during my stay in medan 😩

I really like your recipe, thank you very much for sharing

My pleasure dear :)
