Hello everyone!
Did you know that sweet potatoes have many benefits. You can find all these benefits on google, but one of the things I like most about sweet potatoes is that they are lower in carbohydrates than rice. One of the foods that can be used as a mainstay menu to reduce rice consumption.
For the sweet potato itself has a variety of shapes and colors. When I go to the market, I usually see cassava, purple sweet potato, cilembu sweet potato, and various other sweet potatoes. The taste is so sweet that it is often processed without any hassle. Even if only boiled or baked, sweet potatoes can be consumed very tasty. Moreover, there is cilembu sweet potato from Cilembu village, this sweet potato is very interesting because it tastes so sweet that if it is roasted it will release the caramel. And the sweet potato is only available in Cilembu village, West Java.
However, this time I'm not making cilembu sweet potato, hive friends, this time I want to invite you to process one of my favorite dishes, orange yam. Why is it a favourite? This sweet potato has a very soft texture, the same as sweet potato cilembu, but the taste is no less sweet like sweet potato cilembu. With a low price, this sweet potato can be found anywhere. So, it's become my favorite because it's cheap and easy to find. Lol
This sweet potato is a favorite because it is very tasty, especially as a sweet potato compote. Usually a favorite dessert that is always cooked by Indonesian mothers when fasting arrives. With a capital of 20,000 rupiah, all the family can enjoy a delicious and healthy dessert. Moreover, how to make it is very easy and simple. It only takes 6 ingredients and the whole family can be very full! Curious about the recipe? Let's look at the following the recipe:
Ingredients:
- 500 gr sweet potato
- 250 gr palm sugar
- Pandan leaves
- 150 ml coconut milk
- Pinch of salt
- 2 liters of water for boiling
How to make Sweet Potato Kolak:
- First, peel the sweet potato skin using a knife and cut according to taste. It is better to cut into small cubes for easy eating. Then, wash and soak for 30 minutes to remove the sap on the yams.
- Heat 2 liters of clean water using medium heat. After boiling, add the cleaned sweet potato. Cook until the potatoes start to soften.
- Enter palm sugar that has been thinly sliced so that it dissolves easily with water, add pandan leaves and a little salt. Cook until the palm sugar is dissolved and the sweet potato is perfectly cooked.
- Heat thick coconut milk with 150 ml of water. Stir until the coconut milk is hot and slightly lumpy. Chill.
- Mix the sweet potato compote with coconut milk, serve. Sweet potato kolak is ready to be eaten with the family!
Honestly, this sweet potato kolak is the simplest and easiest dessert to cook, especially if you eat it when your body starts to feel sore or sick. This menu is my mainstay in order to restore spirit and fit to my body and family. Especially my husband, he loves this dessert, especially if eaten warm and 2 bowls will be finished for him alone. So, I like to cook this dessert the most, sometimes it becomes a mainstay if there is an event at home, I give it to my guests and invitees. So, if you have the ingredients above, just follow this recipe! Hope you like it and comment below for suggestions. Thank you so much, hive friends!
See you the next one :)

This must taste so good. I love pandan. Though we drink pandan lemongrass tea almost every day I should use it more often in my cooking too. Have a beautiful day 😘
The smell of pandan always makes food or drink more interesting, especially the most refreshing pandan is mixed with lime and boiled into a mixture of water for bathing. You can try it at home!
