Butterfly pea flower klepon cake recipe

Good evening culinary lovers. On this occasion I want to share an interesting and very popular snack recipe during the fasting month. Many food sellers, especially those selling cakes, provide this snack. Because it is very popular with most people with its distinctive and delicious taste. No wonder this cake is their target. The cake I mean is klepon cake. I rarely buy klepon cakes sold out there, the filling (brown sugar) is very little, and the outer skin (flour) is very thick, I don't like that. So I often make it myself according to my taste.

In general, klepon cakes that are often found are green with natural pandan leaf coloring or green food coloring. But this time I made it with a different color but still attractive and also has health benefits, namely butterfly pea flowers.

Butterfly pea flowers have health benefits including maintaining the immune system and other important benefits. There are various processed foods and drinks from butterfly pea flowers that are widely used by the community. This flower has a distinctive color, namely bright blue. That color is what makes someone like it to be used as a food coloring. Like this one food preparation, klepon bunga telang. Okay, let's see the ingredients and preparation for making it below.

Ingredient Needed

  • 20-25 stalks of telang flowers
  • 250 gr of glutinous rice flour
  • 1 pandan leaf
  • 1 tsp salt
  • enough water

Filling ingredients

  • 100 gr of palm sugar

Coating ingredients

  • ¹/² coconut (grated)
  • a pinch of salt

How to make

First: Wash the telang flowers thoroughly. Put the telang flowers in a container. Set aside. Heat the water. Pour hot water into a container containing the telang flowers, let stand for 5 minutes until the water changes color to dark blue or also called telang paste

Second: prepare flour in another container, add the telang paste little by little. Add a little salt or 1/2 tsp of salt. Stir until it forms a dough.

Note: try not to make the dough too soft because it can't be shaped, and don't make it too dry because you're afraid the filling will leak.

Third: comb the brown sugar for the filling.

Fourth: take a little dough and shape it like a bowl then fill it with brown sugar, then close it in a round shape. Do this until the dough runs out. Set aside

Fifth: Prepare grated coconut, add a little salt. Stir well

1000015462.jpg1000015460.jpg

Sixth: boil water until boiling. Put some klepon balls into the pan. Boil until the cooked balls float. Do the same thing until the cute and beautiful balls run out. Hehe

Seventh: when it's floating, lift and roll the balls in the grated coconut. Transfer to a serving plate and ready to serve.

Of course you're wondering how it tastes?

The answer is of course very delicious, savory with a coating of coconut and the aroma of sticky rice combined with the sweetness of brown sugar really makes the mouth not stop eating it. In one meal, I can finish up to 10 to 15 klepon balls until my stomach is full. Oh yeah, my child also really likes it.

Do you know, the sensation I like the most when eating this klepon is when the chewy klepon bites and the brown sugar filling explodes in the mouth, very tempting in the mouths of its lovers. If you have never eaten it and are curious about the taste, try making it with this recipe.
That's all for today..
