Pickled cucumber / fresh side dish

Hello vegan friends. On this occasion, I will make a side dish, namely pickles, do you know Pickles? Pickles or a kind of salad are a very simple dish that does not need to be cooked, does not use any flavorings, the ingredients are very natural and uses only one main ingredient, namely cucumber. How to make it is also quite easy, namely just mixing the main ingredients with other simple seasoning ingredients, namely chili, onion, tomato and lime. The addition of lime is of course to provide a sour taste and make the pickles fresher. It is very suitable to be served as a side dish for the main menu such as processed meat menus or can also be served as a salad.

There are several types of pickles, such as adding carrots and using vinegar, usually pickles that use vinegar last longer than those using lime. And pickled shallots, usually this type of pickle is served with foods such as martabak, noodles, fried rice and so on.

Okay, here are the ingredients that I will use and an easy way to make it, keep following!



Ingredients needed:

  • 2 cucumbers
  • 1 red chili
  • 2 cloves of shallots
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 lime


How to make:


First: peel and wash the cucumber, cut the cucumber into thin slices. Do this until the cucumber is finished

Second: How to make it. Prepare a container, mix cucumber, granulated sugar, salt, chopped red chili, sliced ​​shallots and squeeze lime. Stir well. Adjust the taste. Done!

Once finished, do not eat it immediately, let it sit for about 5 minutes or until the pickle releases its water from the melted granulated sugar and the other ingredients are more blended and the texture of the cucumber is slightly soft, then serve.

And here it is, simple cucumber pickles ready to be served. The taste is unique, sour, sweet and very fresh. It is very suitable to be eaten with any side dish, especially with a fatty, oily, coconut milk-based menu to neutralize the fatty taste. Therefore, cucumber pickles are often present on various occasions as a complex package for dishes. Or eaten directly as a dessert (after eating the main course) without rice is also delicious. Like me, I don't really like combining pickles with rice at the same time, but I make it as a dessert. Unlike my two sisters, they prefer to eat it at the same time. That's how different people have different tastes.

In my house, often every time we cook meat dishes, we also provide this cucumber pickle as a refresher. We love to enjoy it.
