In Indonesia, stir-fried dishes are very popular. Why not, many restaurants and cafes provide this stir-fried dish, because the technique of making it is easy and fast, of course the delicious taste makes this dish popular with everyone. So is it with me, this menu is my daily dish at home. This dish has a delicious savory taste and is full of flavor. It's just that, my dish this time is different from the usual stir-fry. My stir-fry today adds tauco to it. Do you know what tauco is? Tauco is a food seasoning made from soybeans (Glycine max) and several other ingredients, then processed by fermentation. Tauco has a fresh, sour and salty taste. So tauco is widely used as a natural seasoning because it has a distinctive taste and aroma.
My stir-fried tauco today uses vegetables, namely long beans. This is very easy to practice at home. Why not, the seasoning for this stir-fried long bean tauco is anti-complicated, no need to grind the spices, just slicing it is enough. And no need to add salt and flavorings anymore. However, adding some spices is necessary for a fragrant aroma. Okay, I will show you how to cook our practical menu today.
Ingredients needed:
- 250 grams of long beans
- 3 tablespoons of Tauco
- 15 green chilies
- 7 cloves of shallots
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 tomato
- 1 segment of ginger
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 stalk of lemongrass
- 40 ml of cooking oil
- 110 ml of water
How to make:
First: cut the long beans into 1 segment of a finger or according to taste. Wash thoroughly. Set aside
Second: chop the green chilies, shallots, garlic, tomatoes and crush the lemongrass. Wash all ingredients thoroughly.
Third: heat the oil, add all the spices such as shallots, garlic, green chilies, tomatoes, ginger, bay leaves, lemongrass. Saute until wilted and fragrant. Add the long beans, add water, stir well. Cook until boiling. Finally, add the tauco. Stir for a while and the vegetables are ready to be served
Tips: so that the cooked vegetables remain bright green, add the tauco at the last moment, namely when the vegetables are almost cooked. If added at the beginning, the color of the vegetables will be slightly black.
That's it, our practical menu friend for tonight. The taste and aroma of this dish are very distinctive and prominent, especially with the addition of fresh long beans, making this vegetable dish taste exotic, namely savory, delicious and unique. The uniqueness lies in the addition of tauco, making the color and texture of this stir-fried vegetable different, from ordinary stir-fries. This dish is perfect for a side dish of warm rice.
It is no wonder that this one cooking spice, tauco, is widely sought after and used in various traditional Indonesian dishes such as making stir-fried vegetables or stir-fried fish. Both are equally delicious and appetizing.

It's really a pity that not many restaurants prepare stir-fried meals just because it takes more time to prepare them... That's one of the reasons why I like to order the "daily menu" in restaurants as they cook them in bigger pots and add them as "daily specials"... If someone would order for 1-2 people, they wouldn't bother to do it...
Maybe your stir-fried long beans look simple, but that doesn't mean they aren't tasty and healthy!! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

It's not about easy or simple a dish. But some of the restaurants may not provide this menu because they may have their own special menu to prepare every day. Thank you for your support and also for visiting my blog😊

This dish looks delicious! I didn't know what "tauco" was so I researched it. I found that it was fermented soybean paste. This would be a great addition for sure.
Thanks for the recipe.
Thank you very much to you. Yes, try adding tauco to some of your dishes, such as stir-fried vegetables or fish. Hopefully the taste suits your tongue.
