Ogbono soup is one of the popular Nigerian soups, and it is made from African Bush mango seeds. It is slimy and goes well with any kind of solid food, be it corn flour, fufu, pounded yam,or yam flour. Ogbono soup is common among the igbos of Nigeria, but is widely enjoyed across the country.
Ingredients I used
-Ogbono(African Bush mango seeds) 3 table spoons
-Scotch bonnet Pepper(6 pieces)
-Locust beans(1 table spoon)
-Seasoning cubes(1)
-Pumpkin leaves(Ugwu leaves)
-Uziza leaves(Cubeb Pepper leaves)
-Palm oil (5 table spoons)
Step by step preparation
-Grind your Ogbono seeds and set aside
-Blend the Pepper in your preferred texture and pour into a pot.
-Add seasoning ,salt and palm oil into the same pot,add your desired amount of water and put the pot on fire.
-Allow the that to boil for 10mins, then you can go in with the ground locust beans and Ogbono. Stir properly so it doesn't form lumps.
-Allow the Ogbono to cook for 3 minutes, at this point you can add water if the texture is too thick for you.
-Wash your Uziza and pumpkin leaves,Slice your Uziza leaves and add to it first, then after 2 minutes, go in with your pumpkin leaves, this is because you don't want to overcook the pumpkin leaves
-Stir and allow to cook on low heat for 2 minutes.
-Serve with any solid of your choice.
Note: I added lot's of vegetables to my Ogbono soup because I like vegetables. Thanks for following through.
This looks delicious 😋 and yummy
Thank you☺️
