Hello to all my @plantpower(vegan) friends, it's a pleasure to greet you on this Friday, almost the weekend. This time, I share with you one of the preparations that I traditionally prepare and that in my childhood used to be served at my mum's house. It is sweet plantain.

The plantain is one of the vegetables that is consumed almost every day in our country and is a staple on every Venezuelan's plate. Even more so when it comes to accompanying vegan and non-vegan meals. I can tell you that the cinnamon-flavoured sweet plantain is a delight. It can also be sweetened with sugar or papelón. My recipe today is with sugar, although in a very small amount. As a child, I loved it and it was a favourite side dish.

The combination of the savoury food with a little sweetness from these sweet plantains is delicious. Here is my recipe which is enough for 4 portions, although in my case I divided them in two.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 large plantain
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Salt to taste
  • 100 mo of water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

PREPARATION

The first thing I did was to peel and cut the plantain into wheels of about 1/2 cm. In a pot, I put the water and brought it to a boil. I added a little salt. Once the water was boiling, I added the plantain wheels carefully, arranging them all over the surface of the pot. At this point, I added the sugar and cinnamon.

I simmered for 4 minutes on each side. I turned the banana wheels carefully so as not to break them. Once the 8 minutes were up, I removed from the heat and the preparation was ready. I would like to point out that you can add a little lemon juice to this recipe to enhance the flavour when adding the sugar. In my case, I didn't add any as I didn't have any lemon at home.

Friends of #hive, this preparation was a delightful accompaniment to any meal and I'm sure you will love it. My family loved it and on special occasions I prepared it, as on this day. Always look for those moments to celebrate with your family. A big hug to all of you.

It's a pleasure to greet you from Venezuela. Here bananas abound and are part of the daily food. We prepare them in different ways. This one I showed you is one of them. I'm glad you liked the recipe. I hope you can get bananas and try this recipe. Nice to greet you 😊.
