Hello, friends! India is incredible, with a rich variety of traditions and cultures. One of the most important aspects here is the food. Indians have countless opportunities to create different dishes using unique ideas. As an Indian, I enjoy exploring these culinary possibilities. thank you @qurator team allowing me to enter my post for the top hive chef theme omelet
While anyone can make a regular omelet from normal eggs, I want to offer an alternative for those who prefer not to use non-vegetarian ingredients. I’m going to show you a recipe for a vegan omelet that is packed with protein. I am showing here one option the Vegan Omlett rich in protein.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup soaked split chickpea
1 tbsp rice flour
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp black salt
pinch of baking powder or baking soda.
pinch of turmeric
1 spoon coriander
3 spring onion
1 green paprika
2 small green chilies
1 tomato
2 tsp oil
1 pinch of chili powder
1 tsp homemade tomato ketchup
As I mentioned some were in my previous recipe the chickpeas work like an egg substitute. I used that idea to form the eggy texture, smoothness, and fluffiness in the omelet.
Wash and soak chana dal/split Chickpeas for around 4-5 hours.
Using a mixer grind the dal using 1 to 1.5 tbsp water.
during making the paste add turmeric and 2 pinches of salt.
and make a fine paste.
In the paste add 2 tsp rice flour and 2 tsp cornstarch.
mix it well with paste.
Add two more tbsp water in the paste and flour.
blend it for 1 more minute.
Here is a very nice, smooth, fluffy egg batter yes vegan egg batter ready.
If you want to use it like this mix 2 pinches of black salt which has an eggy taste and smell. and make your plane egg omelet.
I am showing some Indian special street food version. masala omelet.
Finely chop paprika, spring onion, coriander, and green chili.
In a bowl add spring onion, chili, paprika, and coriander.
Add black salt according to your taste and mix it well.
Add vegan egg batter around 8-10 tsp and mix it with vegetables.
If you want add a pinch of baking soda optional.
Stir batter until becomes fluffy
warm a pan on low heat( my regular gas stove is for reparation temporarily I am using an old stove which is just for emergencies.) and grease 1 tsp oil.
Pour the batter into the pan and spread it using a spoon.
sprinkle some omelet masala red chili, garlic, and black pepper mixture on the top.
cover and keep low heat.
cook for 3-4 minutes on low heat.
Turn around and cook from the other side.
sprinkle some more black salt for eggy taste.
Brush 1 tsp oil on it.
and our vegan omelet is ready. fold and serve it or keep it like how it is.
I used spring onion rings and tomato slices with some coriander leaves and spread homemade ketchup on the omelet.
See the nice soft moist texture of this omelet.
Making plain omelet
My husband likes to have without spices and veggies so I made one for his dinner without any spices and vegetables.
used only salt and pepper.
The batter I saved I dilute it with some water and added black pepper and salt to the vegan egg batter.
greased pan with oil.
poured vegan egg batter into the pan.
flipped it.
The plain omelet
Thank you.
