Good morning to everyone, and a very Merry Christmas to you all! Yesterday’s Christmas celebrations in our country were filled with festivities. I went out last night to witness them, and the large crowd present conveyed the message that everyone in the world should live in peace.
Today, I prepared a new recipe—Snake Gourd Malluma (Sri Lankan-style Snake Gourd Stir Fry). I used a fresh, innovative method to prepare it, making it incredibly delicious.
Snake gourd is a popular ingredient in many South Asian dishes. It's a low-calorie vegetable, making it excellent for weight management. Additionally, it’s rich in nutrients, promotes digestive health, and helps prevent constipation.
So, let’s take a look at how I prepared this dish!
Required Ingredients...
🍀 Snake gourd 150g.
🍀 2 green chilli pods, finely chopped.
🍀 A little chopped onion.
🍀 Curry leaves.
🍀 About 5 cloves of garlic.
🍀 3 dried chili pods cut into shapes.
🍀 A pinch of crushed ginger.
🍀 1/2 cup of Grated Coconut.
🍀 1/2 teaspoon of Mustard powder.
🍀 1/3 teaspoon of Pepper powder.
🍀 1/2 Teaspoon of turmeric powder.
🍀 Salt as needed.
🍀 2 Tablespoon coconut oil.
Method of making....
1 Step.
Snake Gourd, Green Chilies, and other necessary ingredients should be thoroughly washed and cleaned before starting. Once cleaned, cut the Snake Gourd into thin, small pieces and set them aside.
2 Step.
Next, take a blender and add curry leaves, green chilies, garlic, and onions into the cup. Blend them thoroughly. After blending, add grated coconut, turmeric powder, mustard powder, and salt to the mixture. Blend again until smooth to prepare the coconut mixture for the Snake Gourd Mallung.
3 Step.
Next, take a pan and place it on low heat. Add about two tablespoons of coconut oil. Once the oil heats up, add chopped ginger, sliced garlic, and a pinch of salt. Stir well to combine. Then, add pieces of dried chili and sauté until they are well roasted.
4 Step.
Next, add the chopped snake gourd to the pan. Along with it, add a pinch of turmeric powder, pepper powder, and a little salt. Mix everything thoroughly. Allow it to cook for about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5 Step.
Next, add the prepared coconut mixture to the pan and mix well. Cook it for about 3 minutes, ensuring all ingredients are evenly combined. Then, remove it from the heat.

The combination of snake gourd and the coconut mixture not only provides a unique and delightful taste but also ensures a balanced and nutritious meal.
