Hello all my vegan friends, this time I want to join in enlivening Plant Vegan's 3rd anniversary edition.
Before getting into the recipe I want to wish you a happy birthday, hopefully you will be more successful in the future and continue to be enthusiastic about growing into an even bigger community.
Usually on your birthday you will blow out the candles with a tart cake but this time I want to give you something different, in Indonesia it is very normal for us to replace the cake with donuts on our birthday.
Today I made vegan donuts with "tofu" as the base ingredient. Usually donuts are made with potatoes, pumpkin, and it is still very rare to make donuts with tofu. I was inspired by this recipe from my Instagram friend @icenguik but I calculated and modified all the ingredient measurements myself.
Ingredients:

120 gr tofu (use cold)
30-40 ml cold water
190 gr cake flour / high protein
30 gr granulated sugar
4 grams instant yeast
30 gr vegan butter
1 gr salt
How to make
• Blend tofu with water until smooth
• Mix the flour, granulated sugar, yeast and blended tofu, stir with a mixer on low speed until mixed.
• Once it is half smooth, add the vegan butter and salt, mixer again at medium speed until smooth and elastic.
• Once the dough is smooth, roll the dough into a ball then cover with plastic/clean cloth.

• After the dough has doubled in size, you have to deflate the dough to release the air in the dough
• Weigh all the dough to make it easier to divide the dough equally. I divided 33 grams of each dough
• start rounding the dough, make sure the way you round it is correct

• After all the dough has been rounded, we will rest the dough again for 10 minutes.
- second proofing process
• After 10 minutes the dough has risen, we will start to shape the donuts as usual with a hole in the middle. Previously, we released the gas in the mixture by pressing it with a clean glass bottom and pressing it gently.
- degessing process Then make a hole using a bottle cap.
• Once the dough is formed, it can be fried straight away
• use lots of oil over low heat. Fry the donuts until cooked, just flip the donuts once in the pan.
• Tofu donuts are ready to be served
The taste of this donut is delicious and the texture is soft even though it uses tofu but the taste is not annoying, just like donuts in general.
Here are some tips from me when making donuts:
• You have to adjust the amount of water according to the flour you use, you can add a little at a time until it feels right for your dough.
• make sure the dough is kneaded until it is smooth
• stomp the donuts after removing them from the frying pan so that they don't absorb the oil.
