This morning I saw a papaya that was hanging on the tree behind my mess. But unfortunately I was late harvesting the ripe papaya yesterday. Nocturnal animals like mongooses always come here, I found traces of them enjoying papaya some time ago and today I found them again. Sad but that's fate, they are hungry and need this for dinner haha. Lastly, I took one papaya hanging from the tree, because I was afraid they would come back the next day. I will take this papaya home to my mother's place.
When I arrived at my mother's house, I immediately processed this papaya into something delicious, fresh, sour, spicy and sweet. Just imagine enjoying it cold and room temperature is very suitable. Well, people call this dish Gohu papaya or a type of pickled dish typical of one of the cities in Indonesia, namely the city of Manado. However, in our area we call it sweet and sour papaya salad.
Sweet and Sour Papaya Salad
Materials Used
- 1 papaya
- 2 limes
- 5 spoons of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cayenne peppers
In making this sweet and sour papaya, you need to pay attention to the correct use of papaya. So the papaya used must still have a hard texture. Take the new one on the tree so that your dish will be better later. Or it would be better to immediately process it into this dish after picking it.
Creation Procedure
Prepare the papaya, remove all the papaya seeds, then peel the papaya skin until clean.
Then wash it first so that the sap doesn't stick to the papaya. After preparing the papaya, prepare the grater.
So here I grated it on a coarse grater, initially I tried a fine grater but because it was too fine I didn't like it.
Grate the papaya slowly until it's done, here I got a full plate after grating it.
I put it in another, bigger container, then I added granulated sugar, stirred the granulated sugar so that it was evenly mixed.
Cut the lime so it's easy to squeeze, Then squeeze the lime until the juice is one spoonful of sauce.
Add salt, then add the chili pieces. Stir and leave for a few minutes in the refrigerator. And serve.

The sweet and sour papaya salad is ready to be enjoyed, serve in a small bowl, now if you like soup you can add just a little boiled water. But here I prefer the original AI of the papaya. In my opinion, this is a very fresh dish, sweet, spicy and sour combined perfectly with the crunch of the thick papaya. They are perfect and so delicious!.

I don't use milk to prepare papaya, just lime and granulated sugar, they are very delicious.
