I'm used to serving vegetable salad at home, a variety of fresh vegetables stirred in a bowl and then given my favorite dressing is very common. But this time I found a new recipe for carrot salad that made me finish it without leaving it on the plate. Carrots are one of my favorite vegetables, no matter how it's prepared, I often make carrots as a cake at home. And it doesn't taste bad at all, maybe because I like carrots too much or maybe carrots are that good. Hehe I guess it all depends on our taste, right? I'm sure many of you all love carrots.
The abundance of carrots in the fridge makes me have to process them immediately, I don't like carrots to be stored for too long and that makes them not fresh anymore. Carrots are now very cheap, my mom bought 1 kg of carrots yesterday for IDR. 5,000.00 or the same as $0.31 Dollars, which is a very cheap price in my opinion. My mom bought it yesterday as a result there are a lot of carrot stocks at home. Now because I really like carrots, I often consume them without processing so that much will not be wasted.
I got this simple carrot salad idea from the internet yesterday when I was on social media. I think this is a perfect alternative to making carrot salad without the dressing which is too heavy in my opinion. The combination of sesame seeds, chili powder and lemon juice makes this salad very fresh. Now instead of you being curious, let me show you how to make it.
Ingredients
1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
1 teaspoon nori
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon chili powder
Salt to taste
1 teaspon sugar
1 tablespoon lime juice
Making Procedure
Peel off the skin of the carrots with a peeler, make sure to use this tool to get a thin layer of carrots. Do this until you are done, be careful when making carrot slices as they are very sharp.
Marinate the carrots with salt for up to 10 minutes, testing and making sure all parts are evenly coated with salt to get a nice texture.
After a few minutes of marinating, I wash the carrots again and add sesame oil to the carrots.
Add chili powder and also nori pieces and stir until evenly distributed, then squeeze the lime in a container.
Add lime juice, and also sugar stir until well mixed.
Then roast the sesame until brownish yellow, make sure to use low heat when roasting and then apply.
Presentation
After marinating for a few minutes, I served it on a serving plate, then added a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds on top of the salad. Then sprinkle nori on top again, if you have dried parsley sprinkle on top. Then give a touch of celery leaves or coriander leaves on top so that there are shades of green in your salad serving plate. I can't lie this is a beautiful salad dish, the bright colors and thinly sliced carrots make it very easy for me to enjoy. The marinade with the amgar made the carrots limp and very enjoyable.
The taste is very good, tart, sweet and a little spicy from the chili powder with a touch of sesame making it more savory. I really like this combination if you want your salad a little wetter you can add a little boiled water, here I just rely on the pure water that comes out of the carrots when processed into this salad. I highly recommend this salad for carrot lovers like me, good luck with the recipe hope you like it.
