How to Make Steamed Chicory Stuffed with Tofu

Preparing chicory with tofu filling is a different way to add a unique snack menu to your home.



Two days ago I was scouring the market to buy some kitchen necessities, from various vegetables and other staple foods sold there, tofu and chicory are on the menu this week. Changing different menus in the family menu is a must, but we also have to look at what menus are served, which must meet daily nutritional needs, both for health and others, which must be made from vegetables or other things that are good for the body.

Did you know that chicory is a vegetable that is rarely liked by children, processing vegetables into delicious and interesting snacks is the best way to attract their attention. At first I was confused to cook mustard greens into something delicious and liked by all the family at home. Inspired by the traditional dumplings that are often sold on the street, I will make something simple even better, the main ingredients are chicory and mashed tofu for the filling to make this dish healthy and very fresh.

The vitamin content contained in chicory is very good for those of you who are on a diet. In addition to having fiber, this vegetable can also reduce blood sugar levels and is good for heart health. Good nutrition for the body is not only owned by mustard greens, tofu is also very good for your health, one of the processed foods from soy bean starch has a soft texture that is very liked by everyone. Well, because this food is very delicious to eat and has good nutritional content for the body, let's start preparing this snack.



Ingredients

6 pieces of chicory
1 piece of white tofu
1 carrot
1 tablespoon tapioca flour
1 teaspoon pepper powder

How to Prepare Chicory Rolls Filled With Tofu

Step 1 To start preparing this healthy snack, I started washing the chicory, cutting off the slightly thick base of the collard greens, and then steaming it for about 5 minutes.

Step 2 Next Slice or grate carrots, grate coarsely using a grater or it can also be roughly chopped manually,

Step 3 Mash the steamed white tofu first using a fork, puree until completely smooth and there are no rough parts.

Step 4 Then mix the chopped carrots into the mashed tofu.

Step 5 Then add 1 tablespoon of salt so that the resulting taste is more pronounced, then add 1 tablespoon of tapioca flour.

Step 6 Then just add a teaspoon of ground pepper so it's not too spicy.

Step 7 Stir the dough until it's well mixed. After the dough is done, it is ready to be rolled in chicory.

Step 8 I started adding chicory with tofu stuffing.

Step 9 Then gently roll the mustard until it's really firm, so the wrap doesn't crumble while steaming.

Step 10 Now do it until it runs out, wrap it slowly so that the mustard leaves don't tear

Step 11 Then steam the chicory filling for about 10 minutes using low heat.

Tips

A few tips for you, if you make chicory with steamed tofu filling like the dish above, I highly recommend you steam the tofu first like I did or fry the tofu stuffing first so that the cooking process is not too long and cooks evenly the texture is soft and smooth the spices are well absorbed.



Peanut Sauce Ingredients

100 grams of peanuts
1 pecan
1 teaspoon coriander
1 onion
2 cloves of garlic
10 pieces of cayenne pepper
4 red chilies
1 tablespoon salt

How to prepare peanut sauce

Fry the peanuts over low heat until they are completely cooked, then grind all the spices. Saute sliced ​​onion in a tablespoon of heated cooking oil

Then slowly add the ground spices, stir-fry until really fragrant

Next I started adding a teaspoon of salt into the frying pan.

Add sweet soy sauce or you can also replace sweet soy sauce with palm sugar

Then add a little water, into the peanut sauce stir, cook until the sauce is really fragrant and the water shrinks.

To serve the tofu stuffed steamed chicory, I suggest you add peanut sauce on top of the rolled chicory then drizzle with peanut sauce thoroughly then sprinkle with fried onions and finely chopped celery leaves. I also added steamed carrots to make this presentation look interesting to enjoy. while warm to add to the delicacy of this healthy snack, besides serving peanut sauce, you can also enjoy chili sauce or corn sauce according to your taste.

The taste you get from this snack is very tasty, savory and soft textured from tofu that is ground to smooth. The chopped carrots contained in the tofu are also very tasty, sweet and well cooked, I really like steamed carrots like this, because usually I often enjoy raw carrots.

Now for the peanut sauce, you will feel the perfect peanut taste of this chili, a little touch of sweet and savory with the right thickness according to my taste. Now if you don't want a thick gravy, you can add a little water so that the texture of the gravy is more liquid. It all depends on your taste, which is definitely both very tasty in my opinion.
