What if today you find a dish that is exactly the original, but not made the way it should be. Like the jerky that I prepared, for example, as we know, jerky is a food made from processed meat that is dry fried and then prepared with balado sauce. However, what would happen if the jerky was instead prepared from vegan ingredients, namely banana blossoms. Unique and definitely pamper your taste buds like enjoying real beef jerky from Dahing.
The dark black color makes it so similar, the texture and appearance alone surprised me, it's so similar and so perfect. So you need to know that beef jerky is a typical food in our area that is usually served only on certain days. Inspired by this dish, this vegan jerky dish was created. I found this recipe on the internet some time ago because I was curious about what it would taste like so I started making this.
The manufacturing procedure does require a lot of patience in preparation step by step. But the end result quite surprised me and one thing I like about this!
Materials Needed
1 teaspoon mushroom stock
1 teaspoon ground coriander
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons rice flour
2 cloves of garlic
3 cloves of red onion
Cooking Procedure
Make beef jerky
Finely mash the banana blossoms, until smooth, you can use a chopper.
Add rice flour, then add coriander powder.
Season with mushroom stock and garlic powder, stir until evenly mixed.
If the texture is right, flatten it on plastic according to the shape of the jerky or the shape of the piece of meat.
Then add a touch of line texture with a knife so that it resembles meat.
Steam for approximately 15 minutes, then let it cool and it will harden on its own.
Then fry in hot oil using low heat until dry and crispy.
Making balado chili sauce
The balado chili sauce made is a typical chili sauce from dendeng with a spicy taste without using tomatoes. Here are the preparations.
Blend all the spices until smooth with a little water.
Saute with enough cooking oil,
Saute until cooked.
Season with salt, and cook until the sauce is dry without any water content.
Serving Suggestions
Serve the beef jerky by stirring in the balado or just adding it on top like I did. The taste is very similar to the original, very suitable to be enjoyed with warm white rice. The crunchy taste of meat combined with the spicy chili sauce is enough to make me want to add rice when enjoying it.
This is the first time I have made this balado jerky. I think it tastes very good, it tastes very similar to real jerky which is usually prepared with real meat. It feels really good to be able to prepare this vegan jerky that is similar to the original.
