Your Veggie Shopping (Rice)

in Plant Power (Vegan)2 years ago (edited)

Hello plant based foodies, wherever you are in the world!

Here @sirenahippie

Today we are back, for a new edition of this weekly vegan challenge YOUR VEGGIE SHOPPING, an activity that we have created, to learn more about the shopping experience that all of you, dear users, have when supplying food your pantry, either in the markets, in the different commercial establishments or directly in the field, with the producers.

In the previous edition, dedicated to the purchase of SWEETENERS, we had a total of 4 entries, both very interesting and wonderful. Here we present them:

[ENG|ESP] New challenge week 13 BUYING SWEETS | by @dlizara

For this challenge, @dlizara had a lot of fun, although first she had to walk a lot to find a store where she could make her purchase. He bought several types of sweeteners, which he likes very much. She invested $5.9 in this purchase, in which she bought various sweet nuts such as almonds and peanuts, as well as raisins and candied fruits. He also pleased his son with the purchase of some chocolate candies.

Hello Sweet Life. Shopping With Me For Vegan Sweetener Contest | by @anggreklestari

In this beautiful post, @anggreklestari takes us shopping at Hypermart Binjai City, a supermarket located in his city. During her tour, she takes advantage of and reflects on life in general and her future projects, such as the publication of a book. Beyond being a purchasing activity, this market walk becomes a very profitable reflective exercise. She also shows us part of her culture, since being the month of Ramadam, many aspects of Muslim society reflect this important date. Now focusing on her purchase, she shows us the different types of sweeteners she bought, these being white sugar, liquid brown sugar, ground brown sugar, and dates, all very healthy and natural products that she wisely uses in her recipes.

[ESP/ENG]Tus compras de verduras (edulcorantes)/Tus compras de verduras (edulcorantes) | by @mayraro05

On this occasion, @mayraro05 took advantage of going to a pharmacy, where they also sell groceries at good prices, to buy their sweeteners. There she was checking the shelves and saw sweeteners such as Truvia and Stevia, but because they are very expensive products and excessively sweet for her palate, she did not want to buy them, so she opted to buy a kilo of white sugar and a panela bar, both products derived from sugar cane. She also offered us tips for buying and storing these products.

My Veggie Shopping: Sweeteners - My Favorites: Cane Sugar & Cane Honey | by @marlyncabrera

In this educational post, @marlyncabrera takes us shopping at a supermarket in her city. There she makes a journey in search of her favorite sweeteners, such as cane honey and piloncillo, which she was able to acquire at a good price. In the introduction to her post, she tells us about the sweeteners that are accepted by Veganism, and also indicates why there are others that are not accepted (although we are flexible in this regard, we tolerate white sugar). Likewise, she makes an important reflection on whether or not to be a vegan in a country with such a critical economy, like Venezuela. All of this seemed very accurate to us. She also rules out industrial sweeteners such as Truvia and Splenda, primarily because of the dangers these products pose to human health, as well as their taste and high price. Later, she shows us how she stores them and tells us about how she uses these products in her recipes. He also shares a photo of Canela, her beautiful cat, guardian of sweeteners, hahahahaha.

NOW LET'S GO WITH THE NEW “YOUR VEGGIE SHOPPING”

image.png

There are foods that are universal, and this due to their versatility, understood by the multiple sweet and savory recipes that we can prepare with them, such is the case of rice. It is very difficult for there to be a country where rice is not consumed on a daily basis, and although it is true in some cultures it is consumed more than in others, in general this cereal forms a fundamental part of any human diet. So for this new challenge, corresponding to week 14, we want to go shopping with you, but ONLY TO BUY RICE. In this post you will not include any other type of food, only RICE, and we also want you to give us advice on buying this food.

We love our rice! I tend to order it through an organic co-op, though, so we pick it up from our local distributor rather than the shop.

@tipu curate 6

It is a blessing to be able to buy organic products, free of agrochemicals. Thanks for your valuable support @minismallholding

It certainly is. We can't afford it for everything, but what we can afford we'll buy.
