Dear friends, wishing you all a wonderful day! How are you all doing? I hope you’re doing well. As always, I’ve brought something truly delicious today. This is a nutritious snack that’s perfect not only for curbing those little hunger pangs but also for adding to your breakfast. Vegetable roti is a favorite snack for all of us. Once you’ve prepared the ingredients, you can have it ready in just about 30 minutes. The ingredients I’m using today will make around four vegetable rotis, but feel free to increase the quantities if you’d like to make more. Not only is this healthier and safer than buying from the market, but it’s also a great way to ensure quality. Now, let’s take a look at the step-by-step process of preparing this dish.
Materials Used.
Wheat flour 200g.
Taste raw salt powder.
Some water
About 5 tablespoons of coconut oil.
1/4 Teaspoon of turmeric powder.
1/2 Teaspoon of chili powder.
1/2 Teaspoon of pepper powder.
A finely chopped onion.
2 Green chillies, finely chopped.
Finely chopped curry leaves.
A piece of cinnamon.
Finely chopped carrot A small carrot.
A potato cut into small pieces,
About two finely chopped cabbage leaves.
The cooking process as follows.
Now, let’s begin preparing the vegetable roti. First, take a bowl and add some wheat flour to it. Then, add two tablespoons of coconut oil and a pinch of salt to taste. As you mix everything thoroughly, gradually add small amounts of water until the mixture forms into a dough. Once the dough is ready, apply a little coconut oil over it and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, we need to prepare a simple filling for the roti. For that, take a pan and place it on the stove, adding about two tablespoons of coconut oil. Once the oil starts to heat, add the chopped potatoes. Then, add a pinch of turmeric powder and salt to taste, mixing everything well to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.
Next, add chopped onions, curry leaves, green chilies, cinnamon, and carrot pieces to the golden-fried potatoes. Stir-fry them well until the vegetables are cooked and the mixture becomes ensuring that all the ingredients are evenly mixing.
Next, add chili powder, pepper powder, and chopped cabbage leaves to the mixture. Stir everything well and cook for about 2 minutes. Once the ingredients are well combined and cooked through, remove the pan from the heat.
Now, take the prepared dough and divide it into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a dough ball. Next, take a flat surface or board, lightly grease it with a bit of oil, and roll out each dough ball one by one into a thin oval or rectangular shape using a rolling pin.
Next, as shown in the images below, take the vegetable mixture and place it on the rolled-out dough. Gently spread the filling over half of the dough, then fold the other half over it to create a pocket. Press the edges firmly to seal, ensuring the filling is enclosed.
Now, to cook the prepared rotis, take a roti plate and place it on the stove. Lightly grease the roti plate with oil. Once the roti plate is hot, add the rotis one by one. Cook each roti until all sides are golden brown and crispy, ensuring they are well-cooked and have a beautiful golden color. Once done, remove them from the pan and set aside.
Now, the vegetable roti is ready to be served. It is nutritious and incredibly delicious. If you enjoy it hot, it's even more flavorful. You can pair it with your favorite curry or drizzle some tomato sauce on top for added taste. I hope you all try making this at home. Well, that’s all for today. Wishing you a wonderful day!
