How to make Awung-awung cake

This traditional cake called Awung cake is a typical Bandung cake, but as time goes by, Awung cake has become very popular among Indonesian people, especially the Acehnese people who really like traditional cakes like Awung cake.




Awung-awung cake is a cake made from white sticky rice flour mixed with grated coconut and granulated sugar. You can also use brown sugar, but the Awung cake I made doesn't use brown sugar, it only uses granulated sugar, because in my opinion, it tastes better with granulated sugar because I also don't like things that are too sweet.

Initially my mother asked me to make a traditional cake, she really wanted to eat a sweet and legit cake, so she thought of making this Awung cake, coincidentally I already knew the recipe, because I used to make this cake often when my grandmother was still alive. So as a result I really remember this cake recipe, only I didn't use palm sugar.



Okay, here's how I made it and the ingredients I used are also very easy to get.


Materials used

500 grams of white glutinous rice flour
500 grams of grated coconut
200 grams of granulated sugar
Food coloring


Manufacturing procedure



First


Mix all the ingredients, flour, granulated sugar and grated coconut, along with a little salt. Then stir until well mixed.

Second


After everything is mixed well, separate the dough into 2 parts then add coloring to each dough, the coloring is according to each person's taste.

Third


Then put it in a baking pan, grease the pan with a little cooking oil, then steam for 1 hour on low heat.

RESULTS

Taraa.. the awung cake is ready, and can be eaten together at home, it tastes legit sweet, savory too, in my opinion it's not too sweet, because I don't like cakes that are too sweet, so if you like sweet, you can add 300 grams of sugar in 500 grams of flour. Basically, adjust the level of sweetness yourself.

In my opinion, this cake is very fitting, not too sweet, if it is too sweet it will make us feel nauseous. The grated coconut is very pronounced, it really tastes delicious, the color is also beautiful, I use pink and green. My favorite colors. Green and purple are also no less beautiful, a colored cake like this is not only delicious but also beautiful to look at, right?

The colorfulness of this cake makes me very interested in enjoying it, even I am also interested in making it myself at home, how happy I am today to have succeeded in making a beautiful and delicious cake like this, and also successful in my opinion, although not like my grandmother's old one, but this is very successful. In my opinion, this cake must be steamed until it is really cooked so that it doesn't clump later, and so that it is not hard, that's why I steamed it for a very long time, almost an hour.
