Tahu Gejrot Traditional snack in my area

Tahu gejrut is a typical Cirebun snack made from fried tofu then doused with spicy sauce, the spicy sauce itself is made from palm sugar, chili and shallots, if in a snack place this tahu gejrot is very popular among children or adults, but lately tahu gejrot is very rare to find in my area, I don't know why almost no one sells it anymore, even though today I really want to eat it, that's why I thought of making it myself at home.

In the past, tahu gejrot was often sold in schools or crowded places such as markets or on the side of the road, but in the last few years I haven't found it here anymore, if you want this snack, you have no choice but to make it yourself at home, with my own version, and this is the first time I've made tahu gejrot at home, I hope that later the taste will be the same as the ones sold in the market, regarding the recipe, I managed to get it from my mother, she is indeed an all-rounder, because since long ago my mother really liked making all kinds of traditional snacks, besides her hobby of cooking cakes, she also likes to share the cakes with her relatives or neighbors hehe

Well, below are the ingredients that I use and how I cook and serve them for all of you, please take a look.


Gejrot Tofu

The main ingredient that I use to make this tahu gejrot is only 2 pieces of tofu, I have obtained 2 pieces of tahu gejrot as much as 2 bowls of medium sized tofu.

2 sheets of white tofu


Ingredients for the sauce


2 tbsp palm sugar
1 tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 tbsp salt
1/2 tbsp tamarind


First


Cut the tofu into small square pieces.
Then prepare the cooking oil and fry until dry

Second


Next, we prepare the sauce, boil 2 glasses of water, boil until boiling then add granulated sugar, tamarind and salt, cook until the water reduces to 1 glass.

Third


In other places, grind shallots and cayenne pepper, adjust the level of spiciness to your own taste, just grind it roughly, no need to grind it too finely.

Fourth


Mix the ground ingredients into the tofu sauce, stir and then sprinkle the sauce over the fried tofu, and the tofu gojrot is ready and ready to be enjoyed.

My tahu gejrot is ready, but here I don't have any satay skewers, guys. Usually tahu gejrot is eaten using satay skewers, skewered and then eaten. It's really delicious. The spiciness is just right, not too spicy, because I don't like food that's too spicy, I'm afraid of getting a stomachache. The sweetness is just right, just a bit less salty, I added very little salt earlier.

What do you think, it's really easy to make, it's really simple, but it tastes really good, it can be used as an afternoon snack, while sitting relaxing in front of the house.
