Today friends am so happy to join you all vegan 🌱 lovers for the first time to participate in this loving initiative proposed to us by our dear @sirenahippie # “ Your Veggies Shopping”, And in this #28 edition we are going shopping 🛍 to buy only “Salt“.

And this time going shopping and buying only salt gives us the opportunity to talk about salt, the wonderful seasoning 🧂 the world 🌎 can not do without.

Salt is a condiment that is different from other condiments because of its flavor to food 🥘. A seasoning 🧂that leaves our food and many other desserts 🍨 so tasteful. Salt which should be one of the oldest condiments/seasoning is so important in to the culinary and gastronomy world. One that is an indispensable item/product.

Salt contains minerals thats supplies our body with calcium, zinc, iodine , potassium, etc. Salt also contains sodium which essentially supplies us nutrients that helps us to maintain the function of balance, eg, such as body fluids our nerves system.

Growing up I learnt from my mother of how salt is versatile 🧂, a powerful sterilizer which then she uses salt to sterilize her vegetables 🥗🥕and fruits 🍏🍎 just like we do with vinegar now and even preserving some foods. Apart from the flavors we obtain from salt while cooking with salt, it’s very obvious that salt has a strong seasoning taste which is why we feel the absence in our foods when we forget to add salt to it. Salt as strong as it is can help us with dental care, attacks insects 🐜 and has the power to disable earth worm 🪱

Today going shopping 🛍 to buy only but salt, I took out time after work to branch into one of my favorite Supermarkets called # Justrite Superstores, located at Ojodu Berger, Ikeja, Capital of Lagos State, Nigeria 🇳🇬, a place I know I must access salt at the shelves. And here I was able to access different types of salt 🧂. Here I saw sea salt, coarse salt and others which falls into the type of salt I love ❤️ buying. These brands majorly are my favorite. Mr Chef salt, Dangote salt, Bollis Table Salt, etc. But the most important of all these salt is that they all are iodized.

And since salt is what we use constantly, I know my choices immediately. When ever I want to buy salt, I will go for Mr chef salt or Dangote salt . For the sea salt 🧂, I will always buy Bollis Salt. And in this buy only salt shopping, I went for Mr chef Salt. This very brand of salt I have used for many years. It has a good quality flavoring which gives the food lovely finished seasoning 🧂. I have used also Dangote salt which also is a good salt. But for my Your Veggies Shopping, its Mr chef salt because its inexpensive, brings out taste on foods and does not disappoint.

And buying salt, the first thing that comes to mind is the freshness of the salt which shows it has not stayed so long at the shelve, because when we buy salt and its a bit moist, this shows the salt is not fresh. Its must have stayed longer on the counter signifying the compact texture. Good table salts are those with iodine which is a good quality to consume.

For the cost of this salt which shows =N= 170 . 00 naira in my country, the equivalent exchange during the purchase in dollar being 0.18$. The quantity Net Weight 500g.
Was Produced 11th of May, 2024. To Expire 10th of May, 2025. These information are what I consider most when going shopping especially buying edibles.

In conclusion, we should always have it in mind that consuming excess salt is not good to our health, so using salt minimally while cooking 🥘 is of great health to all of us.
