Home Recipe: Making Dry Bacem Tempeh

Tonight I want a simple menu to break the fast as an appetizer and my choice fell on tempeh bacem, which is a classic dish where the process of cooking tempeh is only boiling tempeh using spices and then frying it with hot oil, but because my wife and I started to implement a healthy lifestyle by reducing some ingredients such as cooking oil, coconut milk and wheat flour so in making this recipe after I boiled it then I used air fryer as the finishing of this recipe instead of tempeh that will be fried. To know more about my recipe, I will share the recipe and ingredients for how to make it with all of you in this community.

When I made this recipe I prepared the ingredients that I used as follows:

1. 500 grams of Tempeh,

2. 1 clove of shallot

3. 4-5 cloves of garlic

4. 50 grams of palm sugar

5. 3 tamarind seeds

6. 3-4 bay leaves

7. ½ tablespoon of salt

8. 2 tablespoons of coriander powder

Now I will show you all how to make this recipe.

1. Cut the tempeh according to taste. I cut the tempeh a little bit small so that it is perfectly cooked because the end result I want to use the airfryer to dry it.

2. The second step is I slice the palm sugar so that it is easy for me to smooth it later

3. After that I smooth the shallots, garlic and palm sugar using a blender and I add a little water so that the grinding process can run smoothly without any obstacles.

4. After the spices are smooth, I put them in a pan that already has tempeh there

5. Then I put in coriander and salt

6. Bay leaves and tamarind then after I put in all the spices I stirred so that the spices were evenly distributed then I cooked over low heat for about 10 minutes.

7. After the tempeh is brownish like in the photo and the spice water that I put in earlier has receded then I lift the tempeh. And I just let it sit for a while.

8. After that I arrange it in the airfryer but before that I have lined the airfryer with banana leaves. But if there are no banana leaves, it doesn't matter, you can put them directly into the airfryer pan

9. After that, I set the airfryer time to 10 minutes and after 10 minutes I flip the tempeh so that it is perfectly cooked.

10. In this recipe, I want Bacem tempeh that is really dry.

My homemade tempeh bacem is ready. If there are many recipes circulating about making tempeh bacem, it doesn't matter, all have recipes that have been adjusted to their respective tastes. Because I don't really like a lot of spices in my cooking, so I just made a simple recipe like this. And this has also become a pleasure for me.
