The Saute of Papaya Flowers
Do you know about all part of Papaya could be useful, especially the fruit, leaf, and the flowers. I know you would say that Papaya leaves and flowers are bitter, but trust me, It can not be bitter if you know the hack.
This stir-fried papaya flower reminds me of my mother's cooking when I was at school. I didn't like it before because it tasted bitter. However, now I like any vegetables, including papaya flowers. I suddenly wanted to cook it myself because there were no stalls that prepared this stir-fried papaya flower.
If prepared properly, stir-fried papaya leaves are very delicious, I'm sure you will like it.
1/2 kg papaya flowers
Leunca (according your taste)
3-4 Chilies
1/2 clove of onion
3 cloves of red onion
2 cloves of garlic
1 pcs Javanese Tamarind
Mushroom (according your taste)
Let's get it!
To cooking stir-fried papaya leaves is not as simple as stir-frying other vegetables because, before stir-frying them, you have to make sure the papaya leaves are not bitter. To make it not bitter, papaya leaves must be boiled first. Add one packet of tamarind to remove the bitter taste. Boil until the papaya leaves wilt or turn yellowish. That's about 10-20 minutes. Depends on how many papaya flowers you want to cook.
When it boils, you also have to stir it so that the tamarind can remove all the bitter taste of the papaya leaves.
This is optional ingredients. You could add the leunca (the green one) and mushrooms as topping. You could clean and slice this two ingredients while waiting your Papaya's flowers turn yellowish.
Chop chilies, onions, shallots and garlic.
Now you can start to stir your Papaya's flowers. Saute the shallots and onions first, then add the chilies and toppings. Stir until fragrant then add water. Then wait until the water boils.
Don't forget to add spices to make stir-fried papaya flowers delicious. After the water boils, add the papaya flowers, then stir-fry until evenly mixed. You can enjoy this stir-fried papaya while it's warm.
It's easy. isn't?
Yummy!
