COLLECTING THE COLLECTION- MUM'S STASH OF OLD OLD OLDDDD COPPER COINS

Hello Hive Collectors around the world, I hope that you’re doing well today and collecting those treasures which we do not want to forget so we can share them with the younger generations.

So last week edition was Mum’s stash of booze leftover in the bar cabinet here https://peakd.com/hive-180658/@chocolatescorpi/what-was-in-the-bar-cabinet-collection-the-collection-mums-authentic-vintage-booze-from-the-1970s-to-the-1980s. and I really hope that you're not too hungover @ph1102 @duskobgd @palomap3 from your eyes drinking in all this booze...😆🤣😂😅...

So this week I thought that I’d show you what you would need to use to buy that booze with!

I found these copper pennies a few years ago cleaning out another one of her stashes and as you can see the oldest one there is from 1911 and then 1915 and 1919 !

I haven’t had the chance to perform any research on these so I’ve actually got no idea whether they’re worth anything or not.

I thought I’d share them here so you can see what a 105 year-old Commonwealth of Australia one penny coin looks like

But unless there’s a lucky coin order there or two in there that’s actually worth something, I think you need more money than this to buy the stash of booze from last week so maybe the other stash of coins that I found a few months ago which I will share with you next week.

ChocolateScorpi is so incredibly grateful to the the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of this beautiful land that I call home and I thank you for caring for it for so long.

I pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging and offer our hand to all first nations hands in order to help heal all of our relationships to the earth on this truly magical and extraordinary island nation that we now all call home.

Sort:

These are rare coins now and they are tangible pieces of history. Some may see them as valueless but I see investment. In future, I'm sure other collectors will be ready to pay much for them.

Yes, I think that there night be some rare ones in there, but I need to do much more research first.

either way, it's just so interesting to see coins this old- Old for Australia, but not so much for the rest for the world...

At the moment, they are still sitting in the cupboard at my family home, so they are safe where they are and I am happy to leave them there for a while longer, so lucky this is not another urgent task to add to my long list!🤣

So this week I thought that I’d show you what you would need to use to buy that booze with!

😂 😂

Ow, those kangaroos almost jumped off the screen ;D

I really hope that you're not too hungover @ph1102 @duskobgd @palomap3 from your eyes drinking in all this booze...😆🤣😂😅...

Maybe we were drinking with "eyes", but I think that someone else was properly drunk from those bottles... 😜 😂

Those are some nice coins there! Maybe you can sell some of those instead of selling your kidney for the HiveFest journey... 😛

Speaking of HF, I mentioned one person from "upside-down" who is coming, but I messed things out when I said he is an Aussie, as he is actually from NZ... He is @forykw, and you can check his last post here: https://peakd.com/hpud/@forykw/powerup-june-are-you-going

Maybe he has some traveling tips for you... ;)

Call me strange but I prefer to drink with my lips. 🤣

I really hope that you're not too hungover

I didn't have a hangover this weekend (from looking at your collection or drinking live).
I was engaged in a job, now I am almost passed out because of how tired I am..
And I have to go to work in the morning 🥲
This is going to be a tough week for me.
Maybe I'll relax a bit by "eye drinking" from your pictures...

Sorry to hear that you're so exhausted- and probably like the rest of us too- overworked and underpaid....but I can actually relate...which is why I've been gone for 2 days, helping my new flatmate move in, re-arranging my home to fit in his things and working too.

I hope that as tough as your week will be, it will also go smoothly and be very rewarding for you.

I also think that 'eye drinking' might be the best thing for you at the moment too- no late nights out, no empty pockets and not too much of a hangover...🤣

Tonight I'm "drinking with my eyes" a theater performance.
No alcohol, I'll be home early so I think I'll enjoy it 😀

Oooh how theatrical of you! 🤣

I hope that there will be plenty of positive emotions for you eyes to drink in.

Enjoy!

Now I understand more why we associate kangaroos with Australia, I was totally unaware of the coins and they really look great. Wow your mom left interesting collections because I just came from seeing two posts before and after the one about the mugs, it's amazing everything she had.

I really liked this post and every coin from different years, hopefully they have a value and you can get something nice for them. It has been a great pleasure to visit you again, I send you a warm hug and have a happy week 🙌😀💛.... You Rockkk!!! 👍😎🔥📸💰❤️

Ahhh yes, our gorgeous Kangaroos, fiercely loved and protected by many, hated by most and totally exploited by our government, used to lure tourists over here, used as the logos on some of the biggest companies- one being Qantas airlines, the Australian national Icon, hence the image of the Kangaroo on coins as far back as then till even today AND yet killed in the thousands every day for every irrational and UNreal excuses by ungoverned shooters sneaking around in the dark and sold as pet meat and gourmet 'game' meat for human consumption around the world.

What a hypocritical relationship that we Australians have towards one of the oldest animals on earth- one that has been in existence and living side by side with the oldest human inhabitants of the earth- and this continent- the First Australians who have been here for about 75 thousand years...here are some photos I took of them as my best friend is a orphaned and injured Macropod carer and rehabber...these guys are Joey- babies about knee high.....https://peakd.com/@chocolatescorpi/celebrating-amazing-nature-is-the-world-kangaroo-day-2023-photo-competition

And yes Mum certainly did (and still does...🤣🙄😭..) have a HUGE collection of everything that I need to sell!

But it is really interesting to see old coins- especially when they are soooo old too!

Though I'm not in a hurry to sell these- they are small and don't take up too much space, plus the longer I leave them, the more that should go up in value anyway..

So glad that you enjoyed looking at them and I hope that you enjoy the photos of the gorgeous little Joey's that you see kissing my friend Sara and I hope that you have a wonderful week and I look forward to speaking with you again soon!

Sorry for the delay in responding... the hangover has no mercy. 🤣🤣

I love jumping coins with kangaroos. When I was a child, I kept the coins that had some animal engraved. These would have a preferential place!

Ahhhh the hangovers get worse and worse with old age don't they- even if it it only 'eye drinking'! 😆🤣😂😅

Speaking ofwhich, did you know that there's a community in here called Amazing Drinks! 😃 https://peakd.com/c/hive-189869/created Wooohoooo...now I better pick up my game...😆🤣😂😅

Isn't that funny, I have never once thought about jumping coins with the Kangaroos!

Maybe they were too busy and too quick jumping out of my pocket for me to play with them like that!

Have you still got those coins with the animals on them?

If not, I will bring you some! 😃

Yes, I know the Amazing Drinks community and I usually drink with my eyes there! 😂 (and left some votes too)

Unfortunately I don’t have now the animal coins and the worst thing is that I don’t know what happened with them. It’s possible that they are still in my parents house. I will have to take a look. 🧐

Haa yes well I've now got my eyes and mind on the amazing drinks community too so look out!😃

I hope that you do find those animal coins as I would love to see them and when you do find them, then you can put them in a safe place and REMEMBER where that safe place is in the future!

So cool. I don't know much about the history of Australia, let alone its history with money. I wonder if Aus has always been stable in terms of money. Were you guys pegged to any metal?

Stable-ish but I'm not sure about the history of it being pegged to metal but I don't think so as we are still a relatively new country in the whole scheme of things and inherited everything from the British when they invaded and colonised the continent with the POHMS- Prisoners of Her Majesty and the gaolers- who were more often than not, far FAR worse than the prisoners...

Gotcha, so maybe the gold is in Britain's vaults. Over here, when Brazil became independent, the royal court of Portugal went back to Europe taking the treasury \o\
