Hoy vengo a hablarles de una pequeña colección que atesoro: mis botellas y otros recuerdos del Ron Habana Club.
Es una bebida preferida por muchos cubanos, y podemos decir que no pocos visitantes extranjeros quedan muy complacidos después de probarla. A mí, particularmente, también me gusta un trago de vez en cuando.
Mi padre, cuando volvía del trabajo, preparaba lo que él llamaba un "mojito", y aunque no siempre tenía todos los ingredientes de ese famoso cóctel, su bebida era un mojito igualmente. También ponía algo de picar en un plato porque decía que no se debía beber con el estómago vacío.
Era un momento muy relajante para él, y aprovechaba para contarnos sus experiencias del día. Y no se excedía. Era sólo un trago.
A veces, con mucha cautela, nos dejaba probarlo. Insistíamos mucho, y él decía: es sólo mojarse los labios.
Empecé a coleccionar estas botellas cuando trabajaba en una tienda por departamentos y vendía muchas marcas de ron, sobre todo Habana Club. Nuestras cifras de ventas eran altas y la empresa de marketing del mismo nombre nos daba promociones tanto para los clientes que más compraban como para los vendedores, que éramos mi compañero de trabajo y yo. Un incentivo por las altas ventas que hacíamos.
La vendedora de la firma venía regularmente a la tienda y daba promociones a los clientes y organizábamos stands con motivo de fechas importantes como fin de año, el día de los padres y otras, para conseguir buenas ventas.
Trabajé en ese departamento durante doce años y poco a poco fui recogiendo algunas botellas que, por supuesto, 😁 se consumieron. Así como otras cosas que hoy les puedo mostrar.
No tengo todos los tipos de ron que se comercializan, ya que hay tipos exclusivos debido al tiempo de envejecimiento, al valor y también a los envases que se diseñan a petición de los clientes extranjeros que los solicitan. Pero tengo algunos tipos.
Mi colección también incluye vasos etiquetados, agitadores, neveras, bandejas, llaveros, carteles y calendarios. He regalado muchos de estos artículos a compañeros de trabajo, amigos y familiares.
Estas cosas tienen un lugar muy bonito en mi memoria, pero también un lugar especial en mi casa. Nunca imaginé que hoy podría compartir con ustedes estas botellas que ni siquiera están llenas, ni forman parte de un bar donde mucha gente las tiene para brindar por las visitas especiales. Sin embargo, tengo que decirles que en nuestras celebraciones el Ron Habana Club siempre está presente.

I started collecting these bottles when I worked in a department store and sold many brands of rum, especially Habana Club. An incentive for the high sales we were making.
The saleswoman of the firm came regularly to the shop and gave promotions to the customers and we organised stands on the occasion of important dates such as the end of the year, parent's day, and others, to achieve good sales.
I worked in that department for twelve years and little by little I collected some bottles which, of course, were consumed. As well as other things that I can show you today.
I do not have all the types of rum that are marketed, as there are exclusive types due to the ageing time, the value and also the packaging that is designed on request for foreign customers who ask for them. But I have a few types.
My collection also includes labelled glasses, stirrers, coolers, trays, key rings, posters and calendars. I have given many of these items as gifts to co-workers, friends and family members.
These things have a very nice place in my memory, but also a special place in my home. I never imagined that today I could share with you these bottles that are not even full, nor are they part of a bar where many people have them to toast special visitors. However, I have to tell you that in our celebrations Habana Club Rum is always present.
