Right now I feel like a kid surrounded by his favourite toys, jigsaw puzzles!

But I know that more than one will say that it is not entertainment for the youngest ones as in some of the boxes it states from 12-99 years. My nieces would be able to bring here a huge collection of those difficult jigsaw puzzles that contain 1, 2 or 3K pieces. I used to do puzzles with them for a few summers when I was on family visits. We would need several weeks for one, and I think the hardest was to complete a Minions puzzle, as all the pieces were yellow, tiny and very similar to one another.

That was crazy but we had a fun time together, every evening for some hours of doing puzzles. I think we were on the limits of risk our families locked us up in a nuthouse. They couldn't understand the activity of searching for the right spot of one piece of the puzzle for hours. 😂

The Minions picture has been completed and framed and now it hangs in the room of my younger niece. As many other beautiful completed jigsaw puzzle pictures showing cities or landscapes. They frame it and store it, as there are not enough walls for each one.

As I share that passion with them I also tried to pass it on to my son when he was small. This tower of boxes with jigsaw puzzles is what is left as some of the boxes we threw away during the years due to the lack of space. The pieces are kept then in little plastic bags.

These cute puzzles are suitable for younger children. Apart from these, my son had wooden jigsaw puzzles that stayed in another country but they are kept. I don't let anyone throw them away as they are part of memories of my son's learning and playing activities when he was really small.

One piece is missing - my son hid it and we have never found it again. 😆

IMG_20240301_135719.jpg

I don't have those cool and hard ones here but still, there are some 3D puzzles like the Eiffel Tower, Sagrada Família or a windmill.

The Sagrada Família was quite difficult to put together. We have never dismantled it as it is made of a kind of cardboard material, it would become damaged.

IMG_20240301_123852.jpg

The windmill found its place on the balcony, among some plants. I took it inside just for the photo and to show what its inside part looks like. The pieces are marked so it is easier to put them together. It is made of tough plastic and is really resistant to climate conditions, for now.

IMG_20240301_123614.jpg

In this puzzle collection, there are some really easy ones, you can see it by the size of the piece and the number that one set contains. For example, these are easy to do and it gives some pleasure when you finish a picture in a few minutes - even if it is just supposed to be done by children and not adults.

IMG_20240301_123911.jpg

Other sets, like landscapes where all the colours are similar, take more time to be done. This is the picture of a grey sail in the sea, so everything is grey and pale blue here. I did it with my mother-in-law once she visited us. It took a few days.

IMG_20240301_123709.jpg

There are some nice puzzles that I feel pity to dismantle after they are done. I did this castle with the garden full of flowers during the lockdown, every morning for a bit and then the day continued. You see, I put it on four pieces of cardboard (to fit the box later) and kept it this way. Now, if I want to frame it one day I just have to detach it from the cardboard and put these four big pieces together. I hope I will not mess up something and put the sky down or the flowers up 🤣

The keys are there just to show the size of the puzzle when done.

IMG_20240301_123732.jpg

Here comes my favourite piece in the collection. We got it from my sister as a Christmas gift, several years ago. When it was done we also stored it on a huge piece of cardboard. It was sleeping under the bed until today...

IMG_20240301_123803.jpg

How nice is this leopard and all the little butterflies and birds... There is a little frog too, in one leaf. We got 3D glasses in the box and when you look at the picture through them you see the butterflies and the leaves of the trees detached, as if they would fly. I couldn't take a photo (though I tried hahaha) with that effect, but believe me and imagine. It indeed is pretty.

IMG_20240301_123825.jpg

Oops.

Not nice what happened after I took these photos of the leopard puzzle.

I tried to put it back on the cardboard and unfortunately, it didn't survive the attempt. 😭

IMG_20240301_133152.jpg

Well, I will store the pieces in its box now and one day in some remote future do the jigsaw puzzle again. It is not possible today as after I took my son to school, had an appointment with my GP, gave one piano lesson, had a Pilates workout, went to the vegetable market, prepared the lunch, wrote this post, and headed back to work it is hard I can do a puzzle as well. Or should I try harder?

IMG_20240301_133133.jpg

Does anyone want to challenge me to do the next one? (please? 😁) - El Mar (The Sea)

There are 200 pieces, many details and the pieces are in the plastic bag as you see. I could set a timer and do the picture, of course, record it to have proof... What do you think?

What time do you estimate I need to complete it?

Oh, and I should not forget to mention that this is the monthly theme for March:

Jigsaw Puzzle Collection!

Hold on, there will be board game collections too in one of the next months, but now I wanted to bring just these puzzles. Feel free to participate, if you share the same passion! :))

Sort:

you have so many puzzles at home!!! I've only ever done one puzzle, I remember it was a coca cola one, made up of many small coca cola adverts. The actual puzzle was very big, we framed it afterwards and stood it up against the wall in the living room. Then we gave it to a coke fanatic friend when we moved. We've never done another one since, coz it takes up too much room when you're doing it. And then you have to find somewhere to display it when finished. It would be a shame to put it back in the box again when you spent so much time completing it!

And so many more that my nieces have. They frame the puzzles, but the space is indeed a trouble already, more puzzles than walls 😂

It would be a shame to put it back in the box again when you spent so much time completing it!

I know... and how this poor leopard finished today, accidentally. Maybe he just wanted to go to his box for some time again :D

It is nice of you that you gave away that Coca-Cola puzzle to someone who really likes it, good for you and good for that person 😉

The 3D ones are so cool. I haven't tried to put one of them together yet. Oh I don't have any puzzles around the house 😢 Once they get put together they never make it back in the box than eventually disappear. I guess master and conquer is the theme with puzzles in my household.

They never get back to the box? And later they disappear?

It is because you gave them life and they just took a walk, don't worry, they didn't disappear actually ;D

Hehe they didn't want to be put back together again 😊

I've never solved a puzzle in a race against time, but this one doesn't look difficult and if you're good at it, I estimate that you'll finish this puzzle in 90 minutes.

It's so sad I don't have a collection of this puzzles :/

Ok, I take your estimation and if I make it and post it, I will tag you so we can see how close or not you were 😇

🤐

We had dinner, finally 😂

I hope you get some puzzles soon, imagine you get some this month so you share them here with us 🤓

Sounds like a great idea, I'll take a look to puzzles 😂

Wow! You have a lot of puzzle frames. My sister-in-law brought from the states 5,000 PCs of puzzle. The whole family helped out until it was finished but we did it like for six months because we only do it during weekends when the family has gatherings. The puzzle was a picture of our latter-day saints temple square in Utah. I remembered we are in the living room putting the pieces together. Each one would put together different parts of the puzzle then putting them together based on the photo. It was really enjoyable because it has become a family activity. We did it like five years ago... Haha. I don't even know where that puzzle is now.

This 200 pcs!? I guess you can just do it in a half day's tine if you will really sit on it and focus on finishing it. The pieces are not that small so it won't be easy to put them together. You can do it and yes, try putting them together then have them framed.☺️😉

5K pieces? oh wow, that is for professionals hahaha

How cool that the whole family participated in that fun. Six months is a good result for a 5K piece of jigsaw puzzle. It must have been a great feeling when the last piece was put, right? 😇

I will take your estimation, half a day. If I make it and record & report it here, you will know :D Thank you 😉

Yes it was really fun, the whole family celebrated when we finally got the last piece solved.
Puzzles can be a very good family activity and bonding. While the aunt's are cooking the uncles, the cousins are putting up the puzzle pieces then after eating then it was the aunt's, the sister's-in-law's turn to contribute to the puzzle.
While the first batch had to clean up... Haha.
Fun times really. It made me miss those fun times more now that my mother-in-law just passed. In her quite way she also put some puzzle pieces together while listening to her grand kids talking about their thing in school, some about their crushes, teasing and teasing while the boys got a bit of scolding for you know boys skipping out on their chores at home like cleaning their room, doing some of the laundry, running errands because the focus is on computer games😁😆🤭.... Yah! It was truly a good family get together gives me tears now. Missing the good old days specially when one of my brother- in-law with the whole family moved to California, US already last 2019. It was I think around 2018 when we did the puzzle when my sister-in-law from the states brought it home on her vacation back here in the Philippines.
So much has changed since then. Now it's just me and dhubby at home while our son is studying in the University, 5-6 hour drive from us up the highlands far away.
Back to newlyweds again!
Oh yah! I probably would look for puzzles online so hubby and I can make them too again.... Haha.
Oh wow! Great thought. Okay I'll post it when I found the perfect puzzle photo.

I definitely think you can do it half day for the 200 pieces.
That would be great and fun with the time! Under pressure!!!! Tik tok, tik tok.... An hour glass would be fun too!☺️😍

What a cutie puzzle. I remember when I was a kid my aunt use to have a big beauty and the beast puzzle that we use assemble. It makes us happy when we finally finish the puzzle.
Then the last time I assembled a not that big puzzle when my daughter was in her 6th grade I think. She is now in senior high

That is a nice time spent with our children when we play together and even do puzzles together. We made some of his easy puzzles many times, it is all a learning process and also so much fun. We never got bored with puzzles and repeat the same ones without being bothered about that 😁

The only puzzle I have at home is one with Gaudí's monuments. You have to tell me how you managed to finish the Sagrada Familia before him and those who continued his work. 😁

Bring the puzzle when we meet, and with a cup of coffee we can do puzzles too haha

You have to tell me how you managed to finish the Sagrada Familia before him and those who continued his work. 😁

Oh, that's a secret I can't share. 🤣

I love puzzles!! I have one here - 1000 tiny pieces with a collage of Gaudi buildings. But I wouldn't dare to put it together now with Suzi around :p
And as a kid we had one big one with vase with flowers. Tons of tiny flowers and dark background. I loved it! Did it a few times.

But I wouldn't dare to put it together now with Suzi around :p

Sounds familiar. Those puzzles we were doing with my nieces... we were doing it on the floor as they are huge and then the three of us sit around for hours during weeks and select and search... but they have a dog (the black long-haired one and a cat) Sometimes pieces went missing as they got stuck in the doggie's hair and the cat was playing with the pieces 😂. Those are additional challenges to face hahaha

You could do it just when Suzi is sleeping... or having a distraction, like chewing cacti flowers 😂

Hahaha I am sure she would push then under the furniture. One by one. And I would wonder where they are.

You could do it just when Suzi is sleeping

Last time it took me few days to put it together :p I think she would notice :D :D

What a beautiful collection!! Yes... puzzle are for everybody and yours are incredible!

No age limit if there is fun, I guess :))

My husband is not very excited about puzzles, so all stays for me now 😁

He knows that you are the baby girl of the family jajaja

And I thought I'm crazy for always buying a new one, but i only have like five 😜 The truth is, I love puzzles, but never have the time to finish one. Yours are very cool 😎

Hahaha, what I am then? Crazy squared 😂

We had a phase when we used to buy used jigsaw puzzles, like for 1 or 2 euros, and then when we got bored from the same we would sell it further for the same price. That was a good option not to gather too many puzzles at home :D

Hahaha, what I am then? Crazy squared 😂

Dunno honestly 😁

Selling what you don't need and buying another one is a very cool thing and it's also repurposing, or reusing? I wish there was such thing here. I mean you can buy cheap, used puzzles at the second hand shops, but can't sell them. You need to look for an online platform to do that, then shipping would cost 10 times the cost of the puzzle 😨

Well it has been a surprise to see the amount of puzzles you have, when I was little I made many at home with my sisters and then very recently with my grandson but I no longer have any. My grandson always hid pieces to make mischief. It is an entertainment but special to exercise the brain. Beautiful your collection, I loved it. Thank you my friend. Nice weekend.🥰🤗

So your grandson also liked to hide the pieces 😂

Estos jovenes... jajaja

Thank you and a nice weekend to you too 😇

I also wish you a good weekend and lots of success. 🤗🥰😄

How cool!!! I love puzzles, and the first ones I've never seen before, they are formidable!

I loved the leopard one, I love felines!😍

The leopard is very cute.

Well, it was cute, as it is dismantled now 🤐

I was impressed to see so many of them, they are beautiful!

These are good collections. We have jigsaw puzzles here but my kids lost the other pieces. Whew.

Yeah, I know, kids also like to hide the pieces haha. There were some I found in the closet but some have never been found

And we ended up throwing the other jigsaw puzzles with lost pieces that never been found. :(

I really like your collection. Unfortunately, board games are less and less used, because of screens and cell phones. After reading your blog it made me want to buy a 1000 piece puzzle haha.
Greetings!😄

I also have board games hahaha, that will come one day too. There is one we really love to play when I am on a family visit, the best is when we play it 6 (tres parejas), it's called Sequence. Fun time and laughter are granted!!! 😃

I suppose that among your board games, there is monopoly. A must for a meeting with friends and family. Although it can generate tense moments haha.
I hope to read you more n.n

Although it can generate tense moments haha.

True! 😂

Even to the extent that some players get angry and leave the table where we play, as a sign of protest hahaha 😂

I was not a huge fan of Monopoly, I played it but I guess I was always losing and didn't like that hahaha

I understand you're going to make a video of you doing that puzzle? Okay, I'll get my cushion ready. Oh, this challenge is tough. I'll take the opportunity to get out my mugs and other stuff around here. 😆

Yes, it is the plan, maybe tomorrow after visiting Little Dreaming Buddha 😇
I will put the lunch in the oven and will not take it out until I finish the puzzle.

Maybe we will have to call the firefighters because of the burnt lunch 😂

Oh, this challenge is tough.

Can't be harder than the musical instruments, or?

I have no doubt that you can do it at the speed of light, because in reality, you have a memory like an elephant and other characteristics that I have been able to see are in your favor.

As for the difficulty... you're right.

I remember as a kid I had several sets of jigsaw puzzles, and I would spend hours on it to put it together. But they were always following a flat pattern, not three-dimensional as you have shown us. Very nice and creative that windmill, the Eiffel Tower and the Holy Family.
It is beautiful and it is a game that achieves a fabulous mental exercise. Undoubtedly, it is a preventive therapy for senile dementia and other pathologies of the nervous system.
An interesting post and a new challenge for the month. Greetings

These 3D ones are also new for me, we have always had just the regular flat puzzles. Doing puzzles is fun but also an exercise for the brain, indeed. Thank you @abrunet and if you have a puzzle collection then I am looking forward to seeing your participation 😇 Greetings

Sorry for being off topic here. We're heading for Spain next weekend, to take a dip in the sea in Málaga. Well, me, it's gonna be cold for my girlfriend :)

Any chance you'll be in the South? I could teach you a bit of beer basics ;)

Ow, you are coming to Málaga. :)) Cool, enjoy it, the sea and the beers 😇

Only if this month would be a bit less busy... At the beginning of next week, we will be again in Zaragoza, then the weekend is full busy too, in Teulada. Any chance you will be in Madrid on the 16th? Though it will be a busy day there too for me 🤦‍♀

Nope, I have to work those days as we would love to go skiing the week after :/

Seeing this thing has brought back childhood memories, but we still have such toys in our cupboards, which we used to play with since childhood, and now these toys have been lying like this for almost 25 years.

Omg this brings back rush of nostalgia from my childhood when we used to read story books, play Ludo and even do puzzles. 🧩 Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece with us today.

I am glad this post reminded you about your childhood 😇

At home there are several boxes of unopened puzzles, I have a long time without assembling any, I hope my daughter, (owner of them), let me open them. Greetings.

I wish you a good time if you get to do puzzles - in case your daughter let you open the boxes :D

Seems that you like very much playing with puzzles, it's a fun hobby, I use to have many puzzles and passed many hours trying to complete them. I specially remember a big one, 5000 or 10000 pieces, I'm not sure, it was a photo of four beautiful horses, my mom bought me a huge piece of cardboard and I kept it under the bed, everytime I wanted to continue completing it, I took it out from under the bed and put it together on the cardboard. It took me a long time to finish it and when I completed it, I glued it on that same cardboard and hung it in my room. I had it for a long time until years later my mother threw it away.

That is the method we also use with my nieces, in a huge piece of cardboard, on the floor doing puzzles, but we didn't put it away until we were done - even if it would take weeks (or months 😂)

Imagine the scene with a cat and a long-haired dog around that sometimes entered that room. A disaster hahaha

🤣🤣🤣 well, I put it away carefully under the bed because it was a huge puzzle and sometimes I got bored or had to study so I didn't have much time to finished it in just one day or weekend 🥴 hehehe. In fact, that puzzle took me weeks to finish it 😬🥴🤣🤣🤣🤣🤷🏻‍♀️

Hahaha, with cats or dogs around must be fun to try to make a puzzle 🤭🤭🤭. I only have two small puzzles now that I use to make for fun and then I put them again in their boxes. Maybe I should buy some big ones 🤔 it's a fun hobby.
Btw, those 3D puzzles you have are amazing, it must be more difficult to put them together

So many puzzles @mipiano . They look so interesting and attractive. My daughter plays and solves puzzles. I will ask her to take a look 👀. Greetings.

I am glad your daughter also likes puzzles :))) It is fun, believe me 😇

I know. When she is on it, don’t call her for anything haha 😂. Best of the week.

This looks so interesting, i really love , they are beautiful, for me some full creative is it and i love seeing them again after my childhood long ago

So interesting @valblesza . Happy weekend.

What an interesting collection, just as you needed several weeks to put one together because of the tiny and similar pieces, I also faced challenges with similar puzzles, I just don't remember the names. Excellent post!

Thank you :)

Yes, those puzzles with many little pieces are the most difficult ones, a few weeks are needed, easily.
